POST IT NOTES

**Wai Ting and I were guests Friday on the Toronto Mike’d podcast discussing the formation of POST Wrestling, the changing media landscape, launching a podcast network, how we started at The Fight Network, the recent Owen Hart documentary, spoiler culture, and Riverdale! This was one of my favorite interviews I’ve done, so I hope everyone enjoys it.

**On the Café Hangout this week, we had three outstanding guests beginning with Andreas Hale from The Corner Podcast and Sporting News. Andreas discussed covering Double or Nothing, his tweet that went viral after a retweet from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, The Corner Pod’s panel on minority representation within the industry, and more. From there, we chatted with Smash Wrestling’s Sebastian Suave on their partnership with OWE for a series of shows in Toronto, a crazy week of events this August, the Northern Tournament this weekend, Choclair and the economics of booking big-name talent on the independents. Closing out the show, was our weekly feature with Damian Abraham discussing this week’s episode of The Wrestlers on Viceland.

**On Rewind-A-Wai #37, Wai Ting and I tackle the disastrous film/TV pilot “Thunder in Paradise” starring Hulk Hogan. This was chosen by Espresso Executive Producer Kris Ealy, who joined us to discuss the pilot from 1994, where this ranks among Hogan’s film contributions, and he plays the Trivia Gauntlet. This review is available to members of the POST Wrestling Café.

**On Saturday, it’s the debut of Cruel Summer hosted by WH Park chronicling the history of the G-1 Climax finals. WH kicks off the series with a look at the 1991 final between Masahiro Chono and Keiji Mutoh with your truly as the first guest. The second show drops Sunday with the 1992 final involving Chono and Rick Rude with guest Matt McEwen. The series will be weekly with news shows each Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer.

**Braden Herrington & Davie Portman will have a special NXT TakeOver POST Show on Saturday night.

WRESTLING NEWS

**All Elite Wrestling officially announced Friday that Chris Jericho will take on Hangman Page at All Out. The match will determine the first AEW champion and takes place Friday, August 31st at the Sears Centre. The match was set up this past weekend with Page winning the Casino Battle Royale and Jericho defeating Kenny Omega in the main event at Double or Nothing. Tickets for All Out go on sale Friday, June 14th. Jericho is also scheduled for the Fight for the Fallen event on July 13th in Jacksonville, Florida.

**WWE is promoting a cash-in by Brock Lesnar for Monday’s episode of Raw in Austin, Texas. The angle has been set with Paul Heyman announcing Lesnar will cash in against Universal champion Seth Rollins. They are advertising an appearance by The Undertaker on Monday’s show, as well.

**Netflix has announced that the third season of GLOW will drop on Friday, August 9th with the series set in Las Vegas.

**On Friday’s Best of the Super Juniors card, Shingo Takagi clinched the A Block by defeating Taiji Ishimori in their final tournament match. Takagi ran the table with a 9-0 record in the A Block matches and will face the winner of Monday’s match between Will Ospreay and Ryusuke Taguchi. The finals of the tournament take place next Wednesday from Sumo Hall and the winner receives an IWGP junior heavyweight title shot against Dragon Lee at Dominion.

**The WWE’s main roster tour begins Friday night in Rio Rancho, New Mexico with the Raw crew scheduled to perform. On Saturday night, the same crew will be in Lubbock, Texas while the SmackDown crew is in Waco. The big show of the weekend is the NXT TakeOver 25 card from the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut, which looks like an excellent show on paper.

**If you missed this week’s episode of NXT, there was excellent video package promoting the Velveteen Dream vs. Tyler Breeze match for Saturday’s TakeOver card. The story was presented that Dream has eclipsed what Breeze did in NXT, he’s been a failure on the main roster and utilizing subtle imagery such as Breeze competing on Superstars after being a star on NXT. I thought it conveyed the story effectively and if only watch this video, you understand the entire premise of Saturday’s match, which wasn’t a standout match to me among the lineup and I had a different opinion after seeing this video.

**Konnan describes the differences between the 2006 version of LAX with Hernandez & Homicide and the current incarnation of Santana & Ortiz. He explained the idea behind the militant messaging of the first version, the changing culture today and the locker room makeup.

**The WWE stock closed at $72.74 on Friday.

**All Elite Wrestling has released an epilogue version of Road to Double or Nothing:
