WRESTLING NEWS

**AEW Dynamite presents its go-home show before Revolution with tonight’s broadcast from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida. The show is promoted around Tony Khan’s major announcement, which has been an effective tool to drive viewership in the past. The news has been kept close to the vest with SVP Chris Harrington stating on Wrestlenomics Radio that he doesn’t even know what it will be until Khan announces it. The following matches and segments have been announced for tonight’s show:
*Tag Team Casino Battle Royale
*Hangman Page, John Silver & Alex Reynolds vs. Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish
*Dr. Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter vs. Thunder Rosa & Mercedes Martinez
*Tony Khan’s major announcement – Khan stated on Wednesday that he will be delivering the news himself and making a rare appearance on the show

**WrestleTix reports that just over 1,600 tickets are out for tonight’s show at Daily’s Place. They probably need a long break from Jacksonville after running it throughout the pandemic. The last time they ran Daily’s Place in December saw the show draw 3,500 paid, according to the Wrestling Observer.

**Tony Khan spoke with the media on Wednesday prior to Revolution. Khan confirmed to Jason Powell on the call that there was an option on Cody Rhodes’ deal but wanted to reach a longer deal with Rhodes and thought they would reach it at one point. Khan said he didn’t want to keep someone there that didn’t want to be there.

Khan was asked by Nick Hausman about Jeff Hardy and wouldn’t say it’s a foregone conclusion he’s coming noting he has several days remaining as part of his 90-day no-compete clause with WWE.

Will Washington inquired about the Britt Baker vs. Thunder Rosa match and its placement on the pay-per-view. Khan said that they are “main event worthy” but that match will not be going on last this Sunday.

Khan seemed very open about the idea of eventually introducing Trios titles. He told Sean Ross Sapp that he is more likely to wait on those titles until Kenny Omega is back and would help that division. Later in the call, Khan said that as of now the plan is to close the show with the AEW championship match involving Hangman Page and Adam Cole.

**Vince McMahon will be appearing on Pat McAfee’s show at 2 p.m. ET on Thursday. During a segment on Raw, it was heavily hinted that Austin Theory would be appearing on the show with the idea of it getting physical and making an indirect reference to McMahon’s interview on HBO Sports with Armen Keteyian in 2003.

**Mike Johnson at PWinsider.com reports that Lisette Pineda recently left WWE. Pineda served as Manager of Global Talent Strategy and Development for WWE and worked closely with Paul Levesque. Pineda previously worked at Goldman Sachs for over six years and came to WWE in January 2020.

**Game Changer Wrestling has announced ‘Paranoid’ for Saturday, April 9th at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Los Angles. They have announced Minoru Suzuki, SW3RVE the Realest, Second Gear Crew, Effy, and Allie Katch for the event, which will stream on FITE.

**GCW has also announced a show for Columbus, Ohio on April 22nd.

**NXT 2.0 performer Amari Miller revealed on Twitter that she suffered a concussion on last night’s episode during her match with Lash Legend. After the loss to Legend, fans in the building shared footage of her being taken out of the ring on a stretcher. While responding to a fan’s question, she used #concussion.

**Matt Taven & Mike Bennett vs. Willie Mack & Rich Swann has been added to the IMPACT Sacrifice pre-show this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET on YouTube.

**GRAPPL released the ranking of their top ten matches for the months of January and February based on its user ratings. The #1 match was Will Ospreay vs. Michael Oku from Rev Pro’s High Stakes event (4.70 average rating) followed by Hangman Page vs. Bryan Danielson in Newark (4.69), Kazuchika Okada vs. Will Ospreay at Wrestle Kingdom (4.68), Kazuchika Okada vs. Shingo Takagi (4.48), Katsuhiko Nakajima vs. Go Shiozaki (4.47). Kazuchika Okada vs. Tetsuya Naito (4.38), Giulia vs. Mayu Iwatani (4.31), Starlight Kid vs. AZM (4.29), Saya Kamitani vs. Natsupoi (4.27), and Sammy Guevara vs. Cody Rhodes (4.22) in Rhodes’ last match with AEW.

**Coming out of the first night of the New Japan Cup, many people were raving about the main event between Kazuchika Okada and El Desperado.

**AEW president Tony Khan spoke to Christopher Walker of DAZN to promote this Sunday’s Revolution card and had the following thoughts on the pay-per-view:

At Revolution, with the names involved, I think you’re going to see an excellent wrestling show. I’m very confident that the talent will deliver in the ring, but it’s also important that we use the show to build what we want to do for the rest of the year. This is going to be a show where some storylines end, but you’re also going to see new storylines emerge. We’ve built into this show so well in recent weeks, and you’ll see the hard work pay off at Revolution.

**AEW will be going to Baltimore on Wednesday, May 1st for a live edition of Dynamite and taping Rampage immediately afterward. The promotion is running the Chesapeake Arena, which is the arena that Ring of Honor has used. Tickets for the show go on sale Friday, March 11th at 10 a.m. ET.

**Bully Ray revealed that he will be on a future episode of Broken Skull Sessions with Steve Austin. Bully Ray last wrestled for the company in 2016 and was inducted into the company’s Hall of Fame with D-Von Dudley in 2018 and has appeared many times on The Bump.

MMA NEWS

**TMZ Sports reports that former UFC champion Cain Velasquez is facing ten charges after Monday’s arrest for a shooting in the Bay Area of California. The site states Velasquez’s charges include first-degree attempted murder, multiple counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and shooting an occupied motor vehicle among the charges. The site notes that if he is convicted, Velasquez could be facing “decades in prison”. Documents obtained by TMZ state that the authorities found a 40-caliber semi-automatic handgun in Velasquez’s vehicle, as well as two 10-bullet magazines. It states that eight bullets were missing from the magazines.

**ESPN’s Marc Raimondi has a quote from the District Attorney of Santa Clara County:

Santa Clara County DA Jeff Rosen: “The sad tragedy is that Mr. Velasquez chose to take the law into his own hands, endangering the public and everyone in the truck. This act of violence also causes more pain and suffering to his family.”
