WRESTLING NEWS

**Tonight’s episode of Raw takes place from the Staples Center in Los Angeles with the third consecutive night at the arena, wrapping up with Tuesday’s tapings. Ronda Rousey will be on the show tonight.

**In a follow up to the angle at Survivor Series, while there were some that were concerned Charlotte Flair would be booed, it was an attack designed for Charlotte to get over and it was relayed to me that they were happy with the response she received. The working idea is still to build up to Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch at WrestleMania, but plans can always change if someone takes off and Charlotte Flair came off very strong on Sunday’s show. Tonight’s handling of Ronda Rousey is going to be interesting and should show their hand if they want to turn her or ignore last night’s negative response and keep her as a babyface for the Nia Jax program. Ultimately, Rousey should wind up as a heel down the road and for the Becky Lynch program the audience is going to back Lynch and may force it regardless. I thought Rousey and Charlotte did a tremendous job with the match, it was different from every match on the show and the grappling elements were great. The post-match attack was something they needed to do to keep Charlotte relevant and create a “big three” within the women’s division, which has a lot of great possibilities coming out of the week.

**During the Survivor Series broadcast, there were promos for Lars Sullivan who is about to be called up. I don’t know which show he is going to or whom he is being programmed with, but I was told he is being brought up for a big spot.

**There was an incident during the Survivor Series broadcast where Enzo Amore (Eric Arndt) was disguised in the audience and was promptly removed from the arena. Amore caused a commotion during the AOP’s match with The Bar and led to the audience chanting for him as he was removed by security. He was doing his catchphrases while standing on a seat before he was removed and was caught on video by a fan nearby. Amore is doing a show at Whiskey A Go Go tonight and it seemed like a stunt designed to drum up interest for his show in town.

**The WWE announced on Monday that the 2019 Survivor Series weekend of events will take place from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. Next year’s events will coincide with SmackDown moving to Fox on Friday nights and will feature SmackDown kicking off the weekend on Friday, November 22nd, NXT TakeOver on November 23rd, Survivor Series on November 24th and will conclude with Raw on Monday, November 25th, 2019. Next year’s “big four” weekends will feature the Royal Rumble in Phoenix, WrestleMania in New York & New Jersey, SummerSlam in Toronto, and Survivor Series set for Chicago.

**The WWE’s next pay-per-view is TLC on Sunday, December 16th from the SAP Center in San Jose, California. They announced Seth Rollins will be taking on Dean Ambrose at that show. It appears Braun Strowman and Baron Corbin would be happening on that show and other programs in play would include Ronda Rousey with Nia Jax, unless they go immediately to something with Charlotte, and I’d assume a rematch between Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles.

**Game Changer Wrestling’s promoter Brett Lauderdale spoke to Ryan Satin at Pro Wrestling Sheet regarding the Nick Gage vs. David Arquette match. Lauderdale said that Arquette agreed to all the weapons in the match and it wasn’t a case of Gage surprising Arquette with anything. There was a crew filming a documentary on Arquette and Lauderdale told the outlet, “I’m also starting to wonder if Arquette himself either planned it this way or was playing it up for the documentary cameras with Luke Perry” (who attended the show and took Arquette to the hospital). The match has received a lot of coverage because of who was involved coupled with the violent nature of it.

**The turbulent WWE stock fell 5.6% on Monday closing at $61.82. Since September 28th, the WWE’s stock has fallen 36% after reaching $96.73.

**The WWE will be taping a Starrcade-themed house show this Saturday in Cincinnati, Ohio. A one-hour edited version of the show will be streaming on Sunday night at 8 pm Eastern on the WWE Network.

**MLW has announced that Konnan will be wrestling a singles match against Low Ki next month on December 14th in Miami. This would be Konnan’s first singles match since 2010 and is scheduled to be a No Disqualification match for the MLW title. MLW is running the Scottish Rite Temple on December 13th and 14th and taping the shows for their Fusion program on beIN Sports. Earlier this year, Konnan had hip replacement surgery and was involved in the MLW Battle Riot battle royal in July and came in for the ending of a six-man street fight at Impact Wrestling’s Bound for Glory in October.

**Over the weekend, a teenager in Massachusetts made allegations towards James Ellsworth over inappropriate images that were sent to her over Snapchat. She stated she has the screenshots that were sent and did post three non-nude photos. Ellsworth has denied the allegations and posted the following statement from his lawyer:

My client, James Morris, known publicly and professionally as James Ellsworth has become aware of a number of baseless allegations. Mr. Morris has the utmost respect for women and categorically denies these inflammatory and despicable accusations. Bates & Garcia, Attorneys at Law

**New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced that Hirooki Goto will defend the NEVER Openweight title against Kota Ibushi on Sunday, December 9th in Iwate on the final night of the World Tag League tournament.

**The World Tag League continues Tuesday with a card in Toyama with the tournament matches being added to New Japan World later that day. Below are the tournament matches scheduled for the show:
*Togi Makabe & Toa Henare vs. Yuji Nagata & Manabu Nakanishi
*Killer Elite Squad vs. Michael Elgin & Jeff Cobb
*Minoru Suzuki & Takashi Iizuka vs. Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano
*Guerrillas of Destiny vs. Juice Robinson & David Finlay

**All Japan’s Real World Tag League continues on Tuesday with the following tournament matches scheduled, all of which are being added to their streaming service at AJPW.tv:
*Joe Doering & Dylan James vs. Tajiri & Gianni Valletta
*Kento Miyahara & Yoshitatsu vs. Naoya Nomura & Yuma Aoyagi
*Shuji Ishikawa & Suwama vs. Odinson & Parrow

**Ring of Honor has officially announced that Jeff Cobb will defend the ROH television title against Hangman Page at Final Battle on Friday, December 14th at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

**Revolution Pro Wrestling has announced a match between PAC and Speedball Mike Bailey for this Thursday’s card in Portsmouth at Guildhall.

**Hideki Suzuki has been added to Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport card over WrestleMania Weekend on Thursday, April 4th at the White Eagle Hall in Jersey City.

**NXT has announced live events for January 4th in Atlanta, Georgia, January 5th in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and January 6th in Durham, North Carolina.

**During Friday’s GCW L.A. Confidential card, their stream died in the middle of the match between Hardcore Holly and Brody King so the promotion has uploaded the match for free:

MMA NEWS

**TMZ reported Sunday night that UFC fighter Rachael Ostovich was hospitalized in Honolulu, Hawaii and believed to have suffered a broken orbital bone with the site reporting that “someone close to her” is believed to be the attacker. The police in Honolulu have opened a felony domestic violence investigation into the matter and Ostovich was discharged from the hospital Monday afternoon. Ostovich was scheduled to fight Paige VanZant on January 19th at the Barclays Center but if Ostovich suffered a broken orbital bone that fight would likely be off, although the UFC has not made an announcement on the fight.

**The UFC held a Fight Night card in Bueno Aires in Argentina on Saturday night with 10,245 announced in attendance. Below are the results from the card:
*Nad Marimani def. Anderson dos Santos by unanimous decision (30-27 all)
*Jesus Pinedo def. Devin Powell by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
*Laureano Staropoli def. Hector Aldana by unanimous decision (30-27 all)
*Austin Arnett def. Humberto Bandenay by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-27, 29-27)
*Alexandre Pantoja def. Ulka Sasaki by rear-naked choke at 2:18 of Round 1
*Michel Prazeres def. Bartosz Fabinski by guillotine choke at 1:02 of Round 1
*Cynthia Calvillo def. Poliana Botelho by rear-naked choke at 4:48 of Round 1

*Johnny Walker def. Khalil Rountree Jr. by KO at 1:57 of Round 1
*Ricardo Lamas def. Darren Elkins by TKO at 4:09 of Round 3
*Santiago Ponzinibbio def. Neil Magny by KO at 2:36 of Round 4

The Fight of the Night bonus went to Laureano Staropoli and Hector Aldana and the Performance bonuses were awarded to Santiago Ponzinibbio and Johnny Walker for $50,000 each.

**This Saturday, the UFC has an early morning card from Beijing, China. The preliminary card begins at 3:30 am Eastern early Saturday and the main card will stream at 6:30 am with the card headlined by a heavyweight rematch between Francis Ngannou and Curtis Blaydes. Ngannou defeated Blaydes by TKO due to a doctor’s stoppage in April 2016 and is the lone loss to Blaydes’ career and has won five fights since the loss. Alistair Overeem is also fighting on the card against Sergey Pavlovich.

**While I don’t see it doing big business on pay-per-view, the big fight of the weekend ahead is not in the UFC but from Golden Boy Promotions. On Saturday night at The Forum in Inglewood, California, Chuck Liddell will come out of retirement for a third fight with Tito Ortiz. Liddell hasn’t fought since June 2010 when he was defeated by Rich Franklin and sent into retirement at the request of UFC president Dana White, who provided Liddell with a job until the company was sold in 2016. The pay-per-view is built around the one fight with the only other noteworthy names being Tom Lawlor, Gleison Tibau, and Efrain Escudero. Below is the main card lineup:
*Chuck Liddell vs. Tito Ortiz
*Tom Lawlor vs. Deron Winn
*Kenneth Bergh vs. Jorge Gonzalez
*Gleison Tibau vs. Efrain Escudero
*Ricardo Palacios vs. Walel Watson
*Oscar Cota vs. Jay Silva
