Post invasion episode leads to NXT's most competitive night with AEW

Following NXT’s prominent presence on Friday Night SmackDown and this past Monday’s Raw, the show had its most-competitive night against AEW with a 9,000 difference in total viewership.

AEW continued its streak, edging out NXT with 822,000 viewers on TNT with NXT averaging 813,000 on the USA Network. Both figures were up from last week’s episodes that were hampered going against the seventh game of the World Series. AEW was up 8% and NXT increased an enormous 40% in total viewers. It was AEW’s second-lowest viewership average since launching last month and NXT’s highest number since October 2nd.

In the main 18-49 demographic, AEW was eighth among all cable programming with a 0.35 while NXT was twelfth with a 0.30, their highest number in the demo since the October 2nd episode.

AEW won all the key demographics except for females 12-34 and adults over 50, the latter being a demo that NXT has controlled since the head-to-head competition began.

NXT showed enormous swings among the 18-49 demo and people 25-54 with increases of 66%, 61.5%, and 54.5% among those categories. Between both shows, the only decline came among AEW’s male 18-49 audience that fell 4% from last week’s number.

All the stupid analysis saying AEW delivers a young audience is hogwash. NXT has been the better show the last few weeks and it’s finally showing. Idiots over analyzing a few ratings points thinking AEW is special at delivering a young audience.

I’ve been saying it’s too Indy for mainstream. Let’s hope they change. The Cody promo was a step in the right direction
