John Pollock is joined by guest co-host Mike Murray to review Friday Night SmackDown from the WWE Performance Center.

One of the strangest WWE programs ever took place from the empty Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. The show featured Jeff Hardy’s return match taking on King Corbin, Daniel Bryan facing Cesaro, and a tag match with Bayley & Sasha Banks vs. Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross.

Plus, appearances from John Cena and Bray Wyatt, an interview with Roman Reigns, and a replay of SmackDown Elimination Chamber match from last Sunday.

What a weird show this is. I don’t have words to describe it, but one thing that comes to my mind is that now is the time to let the wrestlers get creative and add more backstage segments/character development. What I am watching so far looks brutally phoney. I felt that I was seeing the script behind each and every Roman word in that interview.

The smartest thing they did with this show was putting Bryan and Cesaro in the ring. Cutting the match with a commercial break and end it 3 minutes after it was not.

I’m not against the empty arena idea but be creative dont start with a heat promo addressing fans who aren’t there.

More skits, stuff done backstage. Unique match types. Push the envelope a little.

The pauses in interviews/promos, where there would usually be crowd response, those were awkward.
I wonder how they explain the “Goldberg” chant in an empty room?
