its less about their ability to overcome the namechange and more about how pervasively stupid the name change was. Its a dumb and insulting name. I suspect they will get over regardless. Maybe even in spite of this horrible name change.
How exactly is it insulting?..atleast it doesn’t sound like a porn channel like the submission sorority.
It is insulting because it sounds like they are a second rate circus act, a vacation package, or something you order at a brothel. It also screams that the fans won’t get the War Raiders gimmick unless we slap them in the face with it.

Ivar is literally the name of one of the main characters on th Vikings TV show. The gimmick is “hey you watch Vikings, check this out.” I mean just drop experience from their name and it would be better, but they cannot trademark that I guess.

If i was eric young, i would be piss to find out that i switch brand in a cutaway and he the only one that didn’t get a video package or a segment on raw.
Love the new name for the war raiders, it give them a fresh start without linking them to NXT.

I could see a name change but “Viking experience” is horrible. I missed their intro and was watching the match and Cole goes “It’s the Viking experience” and I was think “what is he doing”. Then I was like “oh that is their name” it is terrible. That said there is no reason to need a clean break from NXT or to have a name change to do so. You just need the commentators not to dwell on their NXT run. Just introduce the War Raiders. Those in the know will be excited, those not in the know will get to know them with a better name.

That’s why I’m so turned off by the name change. Forget it’s hoaky and childish…they literally hold the only meaningful tag titles in the company and now you change their name while they still have this role in NXT.
