Bobby Fish is now a free agent.

Coming out of the 8/31 episode of AEW Dynamite, it was first reported by Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp that Bobby Fish’s contract with AEW was coming up and it was not going to be renewed. In an update from PWInsider, Fish is officially a free agent as his contract expired on 8/31.

Fish made his AEW in-ring debut in October 2021. He challenged Sammy Guevara for the TNT Championship. He went on to have singles matches against Bryan Danielson and CM Punk. When Kyle O’Reilly arrived to AEW, they reformed reDRagon and re-established the group with Adam Cole.

They were last featured on-screen together when Cole, Fish and O’Reilly ambushed The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson). Cole and O’Reilly have not wrestled since June as they’re recovering from their respective injuries.

While Bobby Fish was doing a virtual signing in August for K & S WrestleFest, he discussed how he felt he was being presented in AEW:

I have to agree opinion, no.

I’ll just speak for myself and not speak for Kyle . I should be utilized a certain way and if my employer doesn’t see that, then that’s bad on them. Know the value of your talent and that’s just being good at booking wrestling.

June was when Fish had his last TV match for AEW and he had not wrestled for the company since July at a Dark: Elevation taping.

This is a stupid move by whoevers decision this was. If it was Tony Khan, he should have at least got the UE vs Elite match out of this. Keep him around for another year if you have to.

If It was Fish, what the fuck does he think he’s going to do now? He’s not going to be used any better in WWE if he goes back, without Cole and O’Reilly. He seems to be someone who thinks too highly of himself.

I’m a fan of his so hope he ends up somewhere but I think this could be a great thing for Kyle O’Reilly moving forward.

There is potential in running KOR as a main event babyface and this frees him up. I think AEW realizes he is a special talent because of how they’ve treated him. They rebuilt him very well after the dying days of NXT ate him up and barfed him out.

I for one am disappointed he won’t be on the shows Wednesday. Im not sure what reaction he’d get but it would have been cool to see him in a match in Albany
