Brian James a.k.a. Road Dogg appears to be returning to WWE in an executive role, according to a report on Monday.

Mike Johnson of PWinsider.com reports that James is returning to WWE in an executive role, but the specifics of his duties and executive title are not confirmed yet. The site added that he is not at Raw in Toronto, but the word was making the rounds that he is coming back.

James has a lengthy history with the company going back to 1994 when he first performed as The Roadie alongside Jeff Jarrett. After a failed run as “The Real Double J”, his career took off when he was paired with Billy Gunn as the New Age Outlaws in late 1997 and joined DX several months later where they became top stars in the company.

James was released in 2001 and wrestled for TNA Wrestling the following year and worked for the group throughout the decade until 2009.

After inducting his father, “Bullet” Bob Armstrong, into the WWE Hall of Fame in Atlanta in 2011, James was hired as a producer at WWE which led to a position as head writer on SmackDown. In 2019, he left his role on SmackDown to take a position at NXT behind the scenes until his release in early 2022.

James had recently launched a podcast with former WWE writer Ryan Katz. James also served as a producer on Ric Flair’s Last Match in Nashville last month.

PWinsider.com also reported that Jeff Jarrett has left his role as SVP of Live Events with WWE.

Are you sure he’s not doing Jarrett’s job while Jarrett takes the credit?

On a serious note, I figured he’d be back. I imagine as time goes on all of Hunters people will slowly make their way in.
