Bellator has made the call to postpone tonight’s card from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut just hours before the fights were to begin.

News of the promotion’s decision to postpone was first reported by Sean Ross Sapp at Fightful.

Bellator president Scott Coker issued the following statement confirming the news:

The health and safety of everyone involved have, and will remain, our top priority as we move forward. After carefully monitoring the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, @BellatorMMA has chosen to postpone this evening’s Bellator 241 event at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

The event has been set to move forward with the arena closed to the public and the fights streaming on DAZN.

Fighters weighed in on Thursday and were set to feature two fights in the promotion’s Featherweight Grand Prix including Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire defending the 145-pound championship his quarter-final bout against Pedro Carvalho. In the other Grand Prix quarter-final, Daniel Weichel was to fight Emmanuel Sanchez.

Ariel Helwani of ESPN added that the fights will be re-scheduled for the future.

The promotion’s next card is not until Saturday, May 9th at the SAP Center in San Jose, California.
