John Pollock and Wai Ting review AEW Dynamite featuring Jon Moxley vs. Darby Allin.
Wednesday’s show kicked off with Nick Jackson returning to singles action for a match against Rey Fenix, Santana & Ortiz took on Private Party in a tribute match for the late Matt Travis, the Diamond Dozen Battle Royal set up next week’s match for the DIAMOND RING, a debate over Kenny Omega’s weightlifting promo, an AEW title match was made for next week’s episode, and Jon Moxley took on Darby Allin in the main event.
I feel the same about Britt Baker, and I kind of get the feeling based on her entrance whether she is going to win or lose by her body language and expression during her entrance.
So far I have had 100% accuracy in predicting the outcome of her matches based on that. I do see potential in her but I do find myself losing interest in her matches there isn’t a lot of flow.
Private Party I like, they are a fun team but they do seem to have a routine to their matches and the spots don’t seem as holistic as a team like The Bucks but I do like how they have been booked when compared to similar teams (i.e., Street Prophets) but the Street Prophets really shine because their personality and promos do show where Private Party needs to improve.
It was another good show, bit disappointed by private party and santana/Ortiz and the women’s division continues to just exist at the moment which is a shame. They really need to get some actual angles and perhaps time for these characters to actually speak or something, anything really. My only other nitpick is the battle royal kind of made a few people look like complete jobbers having no real entrance and in some cases no real purpose whatsoever.
Loved the opener, could’ve gone a bit longer if anything and the main event was fun. Jericho continues to be great and the match with sky next week should be good. In fact next week could be an amazing show with what they’ve got coming up.
