John Pollockand Wai Ting review WWE Raw featuring Shayna Baszler’s bloody attack.
On Monday’s episode, Shayna Baszler attacked Becky Lynch to kickstart their program and introduce us to her fangs. Plus, a six-man tag main event with Seth Rollins, Murphy & AOP vs. Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe & Viking Raiders, NXT women’s champion Rhea Ripley wrestles on the show, another soliloquy from Aleister Black, the 24/7 title changes hands, a rematch between Lynch and Asuka & more.
So wait. Becky drove herself to the hospital/local medical facility. Okay, dumb, but sure, you treat the gaping wound first and ask questions about that later, l can suspend enough disbelief to go for that.
…but they treated her, and then she went back out to the parking lot and got BACK IN the same ambulance that must’ve still been sitting there and drove AWAY from the hospital.
Imagine you have had drove with an ambulance like that. I mean, we’ve seen stupid stuff in wrestling and suspended our disbelief for all kind of s#it, but (at least in this scenario) can we at least try to present something a bit more grounded to reality?
The “knowing something about rebelling against paradise” line by Aleister is because he’s a Satanist in real life. There are often little veiled references in his promos where he implies that he is secretly, literally the Devil.
We don’t need blood and guts…also, here’s our most dominant NXT Women’s call up since Asuka and we’re going to have her bite our champion and make her bleed. FFS with this creative already.
@wai0937, I’m here to offer my investigation results about Aleister Black’s promo.
Given Raw’s quality of recent shows, it leaves the writers somewhat satisfied, but still with a desire to see TV with great writing. One of the writers must have heard about HBO’s recent offering of Watchmen (2019) and binge-watched through it, leaving them wanting more. Therefore, they go watch, for the first time or to re-watch, the film adaption of Watchmen (2009) and love the scene of when Rorschach is in prison and states to the many prisoners he has put behind bars, “None of you seem to understand. I’m not locked in here with you… You’re locked in here with me!”

The writer thought that much like moving the Mike and Maria Kanellis storyline to Rusev and Lana, they can tone down the superhero gimmick from Ricochet and put it on Aleister. For the final touch, to avoid any problems with plagiarism, they rewrote it to make it sound intricate and speak of some cage (maybe to signal for an entry into the Elimination Chamber).
This is the only way it makes sense. Otherwise, consider my first investigation to be my last.
