Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat is set to appear at MLW’s SuperFight event later this month.
The former NWA champion and WWE Hall of Famer will be appearing on behalf of the promotion at the Grady Cole Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The MLW SuperFight event will be a special Fusion TV taping with Steamboat being advertised as the “special matchmaker” for the event and will be available for autographs and photos with fans prior to bell time.
Steamboat’s history in the Carolinas is vast and goes back to 1977 when he left Florida for Mid-Atlantic.
It was in 1977 that he had his first set of matches with Ric Flair, which the two have always said were their best ones but very little video footage exists.
After leaving the territory, he wrestled for the WWF from 1985 to 1988 and returned to JCP/WCW shortly after it was purchased by Turner.
Steamboat’s career ended after a back injury he sustained in the summer of 1994 but did return for a series of matches in WWE in 2009-10.
