Balor is getting another shot at the Universal Title.
Headlining the most recent episode of Friday Night SmackDown was a Universal Championship match between the champion Roman Reigns and challenger Finn Balor. Reigns emerged victorious to retain the title and they will meet once again at Extreme Rules on 9/26.
The final sequence of their match on SmackDown saw Balor hit the Coup de Grâce onto Reigns and when Reigns kicked out, he gave Balor a low blow in the process which led to him scoring the win.
As Reigns and Paul Heyman were exiting camera’s view, the beginning of Balor’s ‘Demon King’ theme played and the lights went red before quickly going back to Reigns’ music.
I’d actually be really into that IF they consider flipping the title. I could maybe see them doing something where Brock comes out and somehow that leads to Baylor getting the pin because the Usos couldn’t stop him (ie. creating tension in the bloodline). Then you pair Roman with Brock and you open up the cracks in the bloodline which will build to the eventual Rock/Uso vs Roman/Uso match and Balor can get the title run never got before.
100% agree…the only thing I could see, is Vince wanting Roman to beat CM Punks reign of a few ago to be able to say that Romans the longest reigning champ world champ in modern day history. Stupid, but I could see him caring about that, especially with Punk in AEW.
