Samu speaks about the changes to the segment.
Going into WWE’s 30th anniversary of Monday Night Raw celebration, it was promoted that there would be a Bloodline Acknowledgement Ceremony and the likes of Afa, Sika, Rikishi and Samu Anoa’i were being brought in for the show.
That segment did not take place and the trial of Sami Zayn occurred in its place. Samu opened up about the change on the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling Podcast and said his father, Afa, was unable to fly at the time and Rikishi came down with a sickness.
From what I know, yeah (we were all going to be part of the The Bloodline Acknowledgment Ceremony at WWE Raw 30). It was supposed to be Rikishi, myself, my dad, my uncle to name a few and my dad couldn’t fly at the time and Rikishi had pneumonia at the time so, everything just got put on the backburner.
He shared his thoughts on what The Bloodline have been able to achieve on WWE television. Samu is proud, but wishes his son, Lance Anoa’i, could be part of it. Lance is currently with MLW and is a co-holder of the organization’s Tag Team Titles.
Proud to be able to watch these kids (The Bloodline) do their thing. I’m proud to be here. I’m hoping one day, they’ll smarten up and put my son in there too. Lance (Anoa’i), he’s been busting his ass… Been in the ring since he was five years old. But, everybody’s got their turn so, he’s still in the shadows waiting his turn. He’s still doing it, he’s still doing what he loves.
This past Friday on SmackDown, Sami Zayn ambushed Roman Reigns but was eventually taken out by Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso.
It is official that Zayn is challenging Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Elimination Chamber.
