WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins commented on the recent lawsuit filed against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE during a media appearance on Thursday.
Rollins is making the media rounds in Las Vegas, Nevada this morning ahead of WWE’s Wrestlemania press conference. He did numerous guest spots as part of the NFL Super Bowl Radio Row, where dozens of sports media talk shows have been set up all week. It felt inevitable that during his time in the convention center, he would eventually be asked about the lawsuit and subsequent departure of McMahon.
McMahon stepped down from his position after former WWE staffer Janel Grant filed a lawsuit alleging “physical and emotional abuse, sexual assault and trafficking.”
During his appearance on CBS Sports Radio’s “Maggie and Perloff” show, Rollins was asked if life in WWE changed after McMahon stepped down from his positions in TKO Group Holdings and WWE. Rollins described the incident as “disgusting” and distanced himself and other wrestlers from it.
“Day to day for us it doesn’t [change how the company operates]. We’re so far removed as talent from that stuff. It’s awful, it’s terrible, I hate it. It’s a disgusting situation. But we’re so far removed from it, you know?” Rollins said. “When we get to work it’s just like ‘How do we make the show the best possible show we can? Who are we out there with? What’s this promo going to be? What’s this match going to be? And how do we entertain the fans?’ Because that’s really what our job is.”
He continued:
“That stuff, that’s personal stuff, that’s business stuff and that’s so far above what we’re thinking, where our brains are at. There’s nothing we can say- We’re not going to do anything that’s going to impact any of that. It’s an awful situation, we’re focused on what we do day to day, it’s just like in any other sort of business structure, right? It’s awful, you feel terrible, you wish you could have seen it or done something, this and that, but at the end of the day your job is your job and that’s what we do, we show up and we try to give the people who paid their tickets to come in the best possible show we can.”
