Friday Night SmackDown from the Staples Center saw a bounce back with overall viewership while its 18-49 figure continued to sink.
The December 10th episode of SmackDown finished with 2,142,000 viewers with approximately 649,000 (0.50) in the 18-49 demographic, per Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics.
The viewership tally represents a 5.5 percent increase from last week’s number while the 18-49 number dropped from 666,000 last week.
This week’s 18-49 number replaces last week as SmackDown’s lowest demo number since July 9th, which was its final week inside of the ThunderDome.
In Brandon Thurston’s breakdown, it told an interesting story in the key demo. Males 18-49 dropped by 14 percent this week but was offset by a 15 rise among females 18-49. Females 18-34 and 35-49 also saw upticks from the week prior.
In Canada, SmackDown averaged 159,100 viewers and 75,800 in the 25-54 demographic. Among sports programs on Friday, it was eighth in viewers but fifth in the demo. The sports programming that evening was led by the Winnipeg Jets vs. Vancouver Canucks and Toronto Raptors vs. New York Knicks. Compared with last week, viewership increased 2.5 percent while the demo was up by 41 percent.
AEW Rampage was taped from the UBS Arena on Long Island and averaged 503,000 viewers with approximately 237,000 (0.18) in the 18-49 demo, per Thurston.
The numbers were essentially from the prior week that averaged 499,000 and 241,000 respectively and in line with the previous two weeks, which are all on the low end of Rampage’s figures.
Brandon Thurston noted in his analysis that Rampage saw a notable decline of 34 percent among females 18-49 while adults 18-34 fell 21 percent this week. Males 18-49 improved by 19.5 percent this week.
