A 39+ Minute Opening Talking Segment

SmackDown kicked off with The Bloodline coming down to the ring sans their newest member. Roman started by doing his “acknowledge me” bit but threatened to leave after he wasn’t satisfied with the Glendale crowd’s response. Paul Heyman said they couldn’t leave as The Rock was coming out… after the commercial break. Upon returning from break, The Rock came out and said that the number one city for cocaine and meth use was Phoenix, AZ which was only ten miles away from Glendale. Rock proclaimed that pro wrestling was cool again because of himself, Roman Reigns, and The Bloodline and then turned down Cody Rhodes’ challenge that he made at Elimination Chamber.

The Rock then counter-offered with a tag team match, Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins vs. The Rock & Roman Reigns at Night 1 of Wrestlemania with the stipulation that if the faces win, The Bloodline will be banned from ringside on Night 2. If Rock & Reigns win, then the Championship match will be “Bloodline Rules” and anything goes. Rock then told Rhodes & Rollins to meet them on Smackdown next week and give them their answer. Rock went to do his “If Ya Smell” bit and Reigns stopped him and said he needed The Rock to acknowledge him. The Rock obliged and they shook and hugged on it.

RKO and Waller/Theory

Backatsge Grayson Waller & Austin Theory were watching a video of Orton getting knocked out by Drew McIntyre when Orton interrupted and challenged either of them to a match later tonight. Waller said that Theory had said earlier that he wanted to fight him and the match was on for the main event as Theory complained that Waller has thrown him under the bus twice now.

Tiffany Stratton vs. Naomi

The first match of the night started 45 minutes into the show and featured Tiffany Stratton taking on Naomi, the latter of which didn’t even get an entrance. Stratton won after raking Naomi’s eyes behind the ref’s back and hitting The Prettiest Moonsault Ever for the victory.

Kabuki Warriors vs. Bayley & Dakota Kai

Next up was Royal Rumble Winner Bayley along with the returning Dakota Kai taking on WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The Kabuki Warriors. This was Kai’s first match since May 12th of last year. That was all for naught however as Kai never tagged in and jumped off the apron when Bayley went for the tag. Bayley then jumped Kai but was ultimately overwhelmed and left lying. No bell ever sounded and the referee disappeared, seemingly throwing the match out. After the match, the heels ran into Jade Cargill, and Nick Aldis intervened before anything happened.

Street Fight

Next another Legado del Fantasma promo aired with them in the same wine restaurant from the last time, saying that they need to destroy what’s left of the Rey Mysterio’s LWO. This led directly to Carlito taking on Santos Escobar in a Street Fight. At one point in the match, Angel & Humberto joined in, and the three triple-teamed Carlito. Cruz del Toro and Joaquin Wilde were out shortly thereafter to help even the odds but were taken out themselves. This brought out the returning Rey Mysterio who came out on crutches. Humberto and Angel went to take him out but he revealed he was faking still being injured and attacked the heels with his crutches. Mysterio got in the ring and helped Carlito beat Escobar after putting him through a table. The full LWO celebrated with Mysterio on their shoulders.

One More Chance?

Backstage, Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate were pleading their case for one more chance against Judgment Day at WrestleMania. Aldis said that he and Adam Pearce have been talking about the Tag Titles and would have an announcement soon. A commotion distracted Aldis and it turned out to be LA Knight who was looking for AJ Styles. Aldis revealed that he told Styles not to be there tonight. Knight said he was going to take him out with a chair the next time he sees him.

Main Event: Orton vs. Theory

Kevin Owens came out as special guest commentator for the main event of the evening, Randy Orton vs. Austin Theory. Orton picked up the win with an RKO in just over nine minutes. Grayson Waller jumped Orton after his victory which prompted Kevin Owens to run in and the two faces fought off Waller & Theory and fist-bumped to end the show.

This tag match idea is terrible.

So does Drew fight as well on night one so it’s fair?

When you have such a deep roster it seems silly to have at least 3 people wrestling twice. It doesn’t make me wanna watch

Does the Bayley storyline demand Sasha help her lol

Seth likely to drop the belt before Mania is how I read it it. Possible cash in. Though Drew vs Priest at Mania would be really bad idea. They could do Seth vs Drew on Raw and have Drew face Sami or somebody at Mania.

Thinking as I write. Please be Sami.

Three guys we need for our world title matches, who are nearly 40 and/or coming off of serious injury… let’s put them all in a main event match 24 hours earlier on a card that’s already sold. Genius!

Theory don’t get enough credit man. That botch save was all him, and he even saw fit to sell like crazy and make Randy (the vet and eventual match winner) look good in the process. Maybe not buckets-of-cum worthy like Graves insisted, but the guy really is a pro.

I’m guessing Rollins gets pinned because he’s the minor league champion. Then Rock “accidentally” costs Reigns the title and we get the Roman babyface turn the next night on Raw

Honestly more interested in Revolution after this cluster mess with the Rock

You’re probably right about Rollins being pinned, but i can see Roman pinning Cody, to try and have them act like Cody is doubting himself, going into night 2.

I also dont see a Roman face turn over The Rock. Rock taking over The Bloodline though would be way more interesting.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking. Rock is the new leader of the bloodline after mania

I really really hope that everyone remains injury free in all this. I wouldn’t even put Cody in these matches on Raw. The risk is too big. Look at Punk.

As long as everyone stays fit, this is all set to be an all timer. The tag match is absolutely the right way to go.

I assumed that Night 1 Cody pins Rock, Night 2 Cody pins Roman, turning Cody into a mega star. I feel like they originally got Rock for the night and booked the Roman match, then after the backlash from the fans they decided to go to back to Cody/Roman and this is where they decided to slot Rock in since he already agreed to do a match. Personally I would have just done Rock vs Rollins, but I wonder if Drew’s contract coming up had something to do with that.

I’m curious to watch SD and see how this came to be.

What I worry is that the opposite will happen now. The rock as a heel is mega over, and it’s very possible to fans, especially if you look at the reaction to Roman interrupting him yesterday, really want to perhaps see that match again. It’s almost like the rock wasn’t cool and now he’s cool again.

I don’t know how it plays out. It’s possible the rock turns baby face, it’s possible that Drew McIntyre gets involved, lots of different possibilities.

That would be terrible. Its a sure way to eventually get the fans to turn on him eventually. The guy has to face SOME adversity. I was actually shocked that they had Drew beat him on Raw,

I know you haven’t been a fan of Cody’s run, so u can see why you are saying this, but I think it’s fair to say most WWE fans have been. I really don’t think the majority of fans will have an issue with it. Cody’s adversity was loosing to last year.

I think there is more money in Rock pinning Cody on Night 1 and then Cody can doubt himself going into Night 2 and he eventually wins and you have it perfectly set up for an eventual Rock/Cody 1 on 1 match.

Rock also has motivation for turning on Roman, since he beat Cody and Roman didnt.

If rock agrees to do a match at say summerslam or next years mania against Cody, then I agree.

I think that will absolutely happen. They will want Rock to be heel but he’s too damn good and turns himself face. Roman will then be left in limbo.

This assumes that Rock doesn’t wrestle too much because I think if he does that fans will turn on him. The guy looked out of breath from talking on Smackdown

The worry is they turn on Cody. Let’s see

Anything is possible, but Cody’s as over as much as anyone in the last 20 years. I really don’t see the fans turning on him as there have been zero signs.

If the rock wants to wrestle, WWE would be a bunch of idiots to tell him no. With that said, If it were up to me I would have done:

Roman vs Cody
Rollins vs Rock
Drew vs Sami

This is why I suspect Drew’s contract comes into play here. I wonder if giving him the world title is what solidified him staying (which I’m assuming is the case).
