One Thousand Days

SmackDown started with Michael Cole and Wade Barrett stating that before now only five men have held the championship for over 1000 days. We then got a detailed video package highlighting Roman Reigns’ title run with visual mentions of the likes of Daniel Bryan, Sting, and CM Punk. After the video, another video aired with Reigns beating Daniel Bryan, and Edge and Michael Cole promised many more highlights to come tonight.

Fun Fact: This promo video actually labeled the past few WrestleManias with numbers! Did you know that the most recent WrestleMania was 39?

A-Town Up

Austin Theory was already in the ring and said that he will be having a 3000, 4000, or 5000-day championship celebration. He then brought out Pretty Deadly and said it was their pleasure to destroy the Brawling Brutes last week. This brought out Sheamus and the Brutes and a referee and Michael Cole announced that a match was about to happen. The 6 men had a competitive match through two commercial breaks. Austin Theory got the pinfall on Ridge Holland after Pretty Deadly pulled a switcheroo allowing them to hit “Spilled Milk” and they tagged Theory in for the win.

Solo & Heyman

Paul Heyman was backstage imploring Solo Sikoa that they needed to make tonight special for Roman Reigns, especially in light of what happened at Night of Champions. Heyman said he would make sure that The Usos would be nowhere to be found tonight so that they can properly acknowledge their Tribal Chief.

Later Heyman approached Adam Pearce and Pearce said The Usos’ travel was canceled and he had doubled security outside the building. Heyman simply responded by saying “Call Roman Reigns” into his phone.

Birthday Twitter Fight

A backstage promo from earlier in the day was shown with The OC wishing AJ Styles a Happy Birthday. Styles said he wanted to take out Hit Row tonight, which appeared to be based on some tweets with Michin and Top Dolla trading insults back and forth. The OC beat Hit Row easily in just under three minutes. After the match, Top Dolla attacked The OC but AJ Styles hit Hit Row with the Phenomenal Forearm and Michael Cole attempted to rap multiple times on commentary. Wade Barrett scoffed.

Breaking News

Seth Rollins’ open challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship was answered by Damian Priest. The match will occur this Monday on Raw.

The Grayson Waller Effect

Grayson Waller’s guest was the newly-crowned Raw Women’s Champion Asuka. Waller feigned that he could understand Asuka and referred to the Money in the Bank briefcases hanging above them. Iyo Sky came out and cut a promo in Japanese and Asuka responded in kind. Bayley then came out and said that once both she and Io qualify, one of them is going to win the Championship. This turned into a high-speed promo parade as Shotzi was out next immediately followed by Lacey Evans in a Sgt. Slaughter-style hat. Zelina Vega was out next and said they were all underestimating her. All four women argued as Grayson Waller exclaimed “Bring more girls, I love America”. Meanwhile, Asuka said “No one is ready for Asuka” when suddenly Bianca Belair jumped her and the pair brawled as officials tried to separate them.

Free Agency

Highlights were shown from NXT this past week of Baron Corbin attacking Carmelo Hayes. We then cut to Cameron Grimes telling Adam Pearce that the next time Corbin shows his face at SmackDown he’s going to take him out. Pearce explained that because of his free-agent status, the next time we’ll see Corbin is on NXT on Tuesday.

Money in the Bank Qualifying

Lacey Evans attacked Zelina Vega in the commercial break after the chaos of The Waller Effect segment so she gained an advantage at the start of their Money in the Bank Qualifying Match. Zelina Vega won with a Code Red in under three minutes. After the break the LWO was celebrating Zelina’s win and Santos Escobar said he would win his qualifying match next week. Michael Cole announced that Mustafa Ali would be his opponent.

Next up was LA Knight taking on Montez Ford in the Men’s MITB Qualifying match. Montez Ford was actually getting some boos in this match despite the crowd clearly being into his entrance. LA Knight picked up the win by holding the ropes to gain an advantage to a huge pop from the crowd.

The Unholy Union

An Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn promo package aired after Michael Cole mentioned the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions so it appears they are next in line for a title shot.

1000 Day Celebration and The Unveiling

Triple H was out first to “celebrate among us” as Michael Cole put it. Hunter unveiled a new WWE Undisputed Universal Championship belt and presented it to Roman.  The Usos came out and somehow the show cut to a commercial. When we came back Jimmy Uso was in Roman’s face and Roman commanded Jey to kick Jimmy in the face. Jimmy responded by telling Roman “The only one who needs fixing is you” and said Roman has gone crazy and told Solo he was going to use and abuse him too.

Roman handed the microphone to Solo asking him who he was loyal to and Solo thought long and hard as the crowd chanted “Solo”. Solo simply responded by saying “I acknowledge you my Tribal Chief but these two right here – they’re my brothers” and he handed the mic back to Roman and moved to align with The Usos. Jimmy Uso then pie-faced Roman which lead to a “holy sh*t” chant from the crowd. Jey stopped Jimmy and Roman from coming to blows saying “I need you” to both of them. Roman was brought to tears and hugged Jimmy but then said “no” and Solo Sikoa hit Jimmy with the Somoan Spike.

NO. WAY. 🫢@WWESoloSikoa just attacked his own brothers, The @WWEUsos, and has chosen to stand with The Tribal Chief @WWERomanReigns! #SmackDown pic.twitter.com/UwpW3TnlKP

As the show ended, Paul Heyman asked Roman Reigns, “What about Jey?” to which Roman responded, “Jey will do what he always does… fall in line”.
