During Friday Night SmackDown, the first match for the September Extreme Rules event was made official with the SmackDown Women’s Championship Match.

Becky Lynch will defend her championship against former champion Bianca Belair on Sunday, September 26th in Columbus, Ohio at the Nationwide Arena.

Lynch returned at SummerSlam as the last-second substitution for Sasha Banks and defeated Belair in 26 seconds to win the championship in a move that was heavily criticized that evening and following the event.

Belair became the #1 contender defeating Liv Morgan, Carmella, and Zelina Vega on the August 27th edition of SmackDown to receive the next title match.

A contract signing between Lynch and Belair will take place on the September 10th edition of the program from Madison Square Garden.
