Steve Austin reflects on his WrestleMania 38 appearances.
Headlining night one of WrestleMania 38 was Stone Cold Steve Austin making his return to in-ring competition for the first time since WrestleMania 19 in 2003. Austin went one-on-one with Kevin Owens and got the win in Dallas, Texas. Austin appeared again on night two of WrestleMania and delivered Stunners to Austin Theory, Pat McAfee and Vince McMahon.
Throughout his appearances, Austin was able to promote and spotlight his ‘Broken Skull American Lager’ beer. Austin and his business partners joined the Brewbound Podcast to discuss the promotion of their beer through WrestleMania and Austin talked about his return to the ring.
He feels 100 percent coming off of his appearances. Austin stated that it was an honor to be back in the ring and he is excited that he was able to promote the Broken Skull Lager.
Oh, I’m 100 percent. I picked up a little bit of a cold the other day but I’m back home in Nevada. Shoot, , I was 100 percent and of course went back in action on Sunday, did a little extra physicality as a part of the show but, you know, it’s just an exciting time for me to back to a business that I really, really love and you know, I never thought I’d be back in a ring but, there we were headlining, main event for the — headlining WrestleMania for night one and it was just truly an honor to be out there and really excited to be out there to — just like the last few times I’ve been able to drink our beer, Broken Skull IPA out in the ring. Couple of years ago, we got a lot of exposure from that and just a real proud moment because when El Segundo and I decided to come out with a Lager which is what everybody was wanting, which is really satisfying because I’ve drank everybody’s beer in the past. I’ve been drinking beer my whole life and I don’t speak technical beer language but we’ve given all those other brands a little bit of a rub by using their beers. So, to go out there and drink our own beer was very satisfying.
While Austin was a full-time talent in WWE/F, the company did pitch for a Steve Austin beer line and they brought it to the attention of a well known beer company.
Austin did not mention the company by name, but believes the partnership did not come to fruition because of his presentation on television at the time. He mentioned that his mother would tell him that if he was a child, she would not let him watch the Stone Cold Steve Austin character.
Well it was an option. We … someone’s idea of what a role model for their beer would look like at that time.
Later in the interview, Austin was asked if he’ll be present at WrestleMania 39 in Inglewood, California. Austin laughed and said if someone told him he’d be headlining night one of WrestleMania 38, he’d think they were crazy so he can never say ‘never’.
He can’t imagine that he won’t be there in some capacity but as far as an on-screen appearance, that’s a Vince McMahon decision and if Austin gets the call, he says he’ll be there.
Well thing and I have a great relationship with him and if I get the call, I’ll be there.
