THE CORPORATION IS CRUMBLING

  • Tatanka has left the Million Dollar Corporation. He was written out of the group on the Raw following WrestleMania by having a returning Sid attack him after he took the pin against Razor Ramon and Scotty Flamingo. Those backstage are breathing a bit of a sigh of relief as the optics of the Native American Tatanka chasing the money had not looked good from the off.
  • Brian Pillman is dealing with an foot injury of some sort that is expected to keep him out of action for about 6 months.

Why is Stan Lane not defending the championship at the Great American Bash?

I know this Hogan trick… he main events every card even though someone else is champion, then claims that the champion doesn’t draw.

Because it wasn’t defended at the 1995 Great American Bash. I could’ve put him in the Main Event Tag but then Slamboree gave me an organic reason to do a rematch.

The more things change…

  • Ric Flair & Big Van Vader def. Hulk Hogan & Randy Savage in a Chicago Street Fight when Flair submitted Savage
  • 2 Cold Scorpio (c) def. Arn Anderson to retain the WCW United States Championship
  • The Blue Bloods def. Magnum Dragons when Regal submitted Magnum T.A.

  • Jake Roberts & Buddy Lee Parker def Harlem Heat when Roberts pinned Booker T
  • Hacksaw Jim Duggan def. Stunning Steve Austin
  • The Ultimate Warrior def. Meng
  • Barry Windham def. Sting via Submission

NOTES

  • It’s said that Steve Austin did not take well to being jobbed out to Jim Duggan and after a backstage confrontation with WCW Booker Eric Bischoff, Steve Austin was given his release. It’s believed there’s a no-compete in the short-term with WWF. Bischoff has been heard to say that it doesn’t matter anyway, Austin’s a good hand but will never draw a dime.

NOTES

  • Some very intersting opportunities. We could get Yoko vs. Lex and Bret vs Owen in the semis. Owen vs Kerry gives us the last 2 KOTR winners facing off while Ax vs Bret gives us 1989’s KOTR winner vs his 1990 counterpart.
  • Yokozuna is arguably the hottest thing in wrestling at the moment.
  • Shawn & Diesel have a very uneasy partnership but they do have something in common - enemies in the Million Dollar Corporation.

So I had no clue who Scotty Flamingo or Stan Lane were so I looked them up.

Scotty Flamingo is Raven who IRL was in ECW by 1995.

And Stan Lane is supposedly the father of alt-right gun-nut congresswoman Lauren Boebert. Crazy!

Yeah. I’ve got a metric based on W/L and other elements that measure ‘overness’ and use that as a guide to determine likely/unlikely that the bigger company would move on from said individual.

Scotty Flamingo/Raven won the Battlebowl back in WCW, which raised his stock (and is why I didn’t rechristen him as ‘Johnny Polo’ in the WWF) and then went on a run for the IC belt/Tag belt/and now KOTR in the WWF. It’s hard to justify how he’d walk away (same reason why Nailz and Tito Santana are still on the roster in 1995 while Magnum T.A, Ricky Steamboat and Jake Roberts are still in WCW at the same juncture). There is a ‘chaos effect’ which can always force my hand (see Rude’s retirement after he had surpassed his IRL retirement date).

Flamingo will make his way over to the Raven persona at some point but there’s absolutely a bit of revisionist history going on right now - which is the whole point to a degree.
