WWF INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
2 Cold Scorpio (c) vs. Owen Hart

Power & Glory (c) vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin & Dude Love

The Legion of Doom vs. The Headbangers

NO HOLDS BARRED
The Patriot vs. Rocky Maivia

FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE
Goldust vs. Triple H

NOTES

  • Bret Hart was named the number 1 contender by Commissioner Slaughter and Shawn did not react well. He said he was the benchmark, the pioneer. You set the standard, and the Heartbreak Kid will surpass it but working here as of late has been nothing short of a living hell. Slaughter said it’s funny he put it that way because they’re trialling a new match type this month at Badd Blood - Hell in a Cell
  • Kerry Von Erich’s reign, now over 200 days, is the 2nd longest of the WCW brand. He still has a long way to go to catch Ricky Steamboat’s WCW record of 407 days.
  • This world title match seems to be a cherry to sweeten the idea of Bret Hart staying with the WWF. We’ll learn a lot by what happens in the Main Event.
  • In related news, the relationship between Bret and Shawn continues to deteriorate behind the scenes as each seems poised to be ‘the guy’ in the Federation

WWF BADD BLOOD: IN YOUR HOUSE RESULTS - OCTOBER 5, 1997

  • Vader def. Bret Hart via Countout to retain the WWF World Heavyweight Championship
  • 2 Cold Scorpio (c) def. Owen Hart to retain the WWF Intercontinental Championship
  • Shawn Michaels def. The Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell match thanks to a debuting Kane
  • Stone Cold Steve Austin & Dude Love def. Power & Glory (c) to win the WWF World Tag Team Titles
  • The Legion of Doom def. The Headbangers via Countout
  • Rocky Maivia def. The Patriot in a No Holds Barred contest
  • Goldust def. Triple H in a Falls Count Anywhere match

NOTES

  • As they were going off the air, the World Wrestling Federation have released word that Vader’s shortcut of a win against Bret will not be allowed to stand. They’re going to cart the Hell in a Cell to Monday Night Raw and have a definitive winner between Bret and Vader
  • There were shots of Vader looking upset but also a cutaway to Shawn Michaels who again had to deal with the fact that Bret seems to be getting ‘preferential treatment’, meanwhile Jim Ross argued that every step of the way Bret has earned his way and he could’ve taken the cheap win tonight but time and time again wanted to finish the match in the ring.

HELL IN A CELL ON RAW

  • Bret Hart defeated Vader via Submission in the cell on Monday Night Raw to a giant ovation from the crowd at the Kemper Arena in Kansas City after wrestling a really strong match that Meltzer gave 4 stars
  • This is Bret’s 2nd reign as WWF World Heavyweight Champion
  • Shawn Michaels has been announced as Bret’s opponent for the upcoming Survivor Series in Montreal. Bret’s contract status is still unknown as of this writing

EDITOR’S NOTE: Everything to this point is actually organic. Bret really was the #1 contender on merit over Michaels both in the game’s ranking system and my own overness chart, Shawn really is nipping at his heels. I had plans for if Bret won or didn’t win the title at Badd Blood - I didn’t have a plan for a finish that was inconclusive though - ergo the HIAC match. It would seem that history doesn’t like to be changed #FixedPoint

FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE

‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair vs. Jeff Jarrett

NOTES

  • At the celebration for the Four Horsemen post-War Games the Horsemen were suited up in the ring, drinking champagne and then Ric Flair’s music hits
  • Ric Flair returns after almost a year away due to injury
  • Flair says that the Horsemen did well last night in War Games. It made him proud. Because Diamonds are forever - so is Ric Flair - and so are the 4 Horsemen - the REAL horsemen
  • The drinking and laughter stops. Flair walks over Hennig and says “a legacy member?”. He then looks to Arn - Arn shrugs his shoulder and says “I made a judgment call”. Flair looks at Hennig and says "the thing about being a horseman is you’ve got to get the job done. And you didn’t! Hennig looks confused until Flair pivots and turns and faces Jeff Jarrett.
  • Flair berates Double J for not taking the match at War Games alongside the other Horsemen and kicks Jarrett out of the group.
  • We cut to backstage where Hollywood Hogan says the New World Order have their own business that needs to be taken care of in the ring after the Main Event: Piper vs. Von Erich (non-title). Hogan’s tone is ominious
  • Piper beats Von Erich clean in the non-title match and as such has earned himself a shot at Von Erich’s belt at Halloween Havoc - Hogan and the rest of the nWo come down and lift Piper up but Piper looks a bit dubious at this outcome
  • It’s also announced that Hogan vs DiBiase at Halloween Havoc will determine the #1 contender for the WCW belt moving into November

Do you usually simulate Raw’s and Nitro’s between PPV’s?

Well, everything gets simulated but as far as a live watch - no (only exception is King of the Ring season)

Needs must what needs must. I had to ‘finish the story’ at Survivor Series.

Kinda missing this right now but I totally understand you have a life outside of reliving 90s wrestling for us all

@Sancty so glad to have the simulation back!

So after months of speculation the Montreal Screwjob is confirmed as a “fixed point in time”.

If Bret leaves, the WWF in the simulation is in a much worse spot than in real life. Austin hasn’t been pushed to be built up as a main-eventer. DX doesn’t even exist because Hart & Michales had been kept away from each other so HBK never needed backup from HHH & Chyna.

But WCW could also screw it up just like they did in real life. Scotty Flamingo was jobbed out after going to WCW.

DX does exist as the WWF is grasping at straws with the creation of the NWO - not a runaway success but still a cool faction that’s made an impact.

Owen is still left behind but so is Pillman. Michaels is mega-over and has Rick Rude as an active wrestler on the roster in kind of a Arn Anderson type role in DX. Chyna is mitigated though as the game doesn’t allow for intergender wrestling.

Austin has gotten over but actually Mick Foley is a house of fire. 2 Cold Scorpio is a very real draw in the upper midcard and Magnum T.A., Ricky Steamboat, and Yokozuna show some serious credibility in the midcard. Rocky Maivia is gaining some momentum with the Nation (probably quicker as Faarooq’s been a disaster).but the Undertaker and Sid (although the latter has departed) have been perennial disappointments.

In WCW, Arn Anderson is actually the biggest thing on Team WCW having eclipsed Flair during his year away with injury. Curt Hennig is also a massive star while DDP is massively over with the U.S. Title and the Outsiders are near the top of the board and are bigger than the tag belts (more on them later). Benoit is meag-over, as is Raven who has not formulated the Flock but they feel somewhat unnecessary as he already had main event credibility. Luger and Jarrett are right on the cusp of breaking through to the Main Event scene while Hogan is always a draw. Von Erich, DiBiase, Savage, Flair and The Giant show that no-one’s got depth like WCW. This is before you bring in Bret Hart or have the return of Sting. Bill Goldberg may have a hard time breaking through a roster this deep. I haven’t even mentioned Jericho (whose progress has been slow), Rey (see Jericho) or Eddie (business is starting to pick up)

HAPPY TRAILS

  • Kerry Von Erich has shocked the wrestling world by announcing that he’s retiring from the wrestling business. He’s said he’s accomplished everything he’s wanted to accomplish and is looking to spending time with family
  • Jesse Ventura has also called it a career. He’s said that he’s satisfied and is happy that he’s going out on his terms.

Now we’ve got a deviation. I saw if time wanted to remedy itself with the Hogan match at the PPV but history wants to change. As such, Piper won’t be going against Sting.

Interesting, with it being probably the biggest match in WCWs history, I’m surprised Hogan vs Sting at Starrcade 97 wasn’t a fixed point. Is there any criteria that makes for fixed points?
