MOVINGS & SHAKINGS IN WCW

  • WCW has added to its tag team division with The Headbangers making the jump across to the promotion
  • Goldberg hasn’t been seen on TV in weeks. It’s said that there are frustrations by Bill Goldberg about how he’s been used to this point and he’s ‘taking ownership of his own career’ before it’s sidelined by bad booking. This is considered a big move from a relative unknown but you can’t argue with his look. It’s said that Vince McMahon would be heavily interested.
  • The WWF have quickly restored the tag team depth lost with the Headbangers - Brian Christopher and Scott Taylor are being packaged as “Too Cool” - someone suggested “Too Much” but it’s said that quickly died in the room.

BRAWL FOR SOME

  • On the eve of the Brawl For All tournament one of the heavy favourites won’t be available for the unconventional competition as Marc Mero has been sent off to rehab and will miss most of the next two months
  • His replacement has to be the odds on favourite as Royal Rumble winner Ken Shamrock has taken his place. Shamrock did come up short against Bart Gunn in the Fight Pit at Fully Loaded. Is a rematch in a non-kayfabe tourney in the cards for the Brawl For All?

Thank goodness Hart retained. Here’s hoping for a year long rein

If WCW had just pushed Bret to the moon it was the natural counterpunch for WWF’s screwjob and they still screwed it up.

Screwing up the booking of Bret Hart is the natural result of having like eight of your main guys with the contractual right to book their own finishes.

Finishes is one thing but putting Bret over in the corner where he’s not even in the match? Astounding.

TELL US A LIE, SHAWN

  • The wrestling world is shocked as Shawn Michaels has announced an indefinite leave from wrestling (the word ‘retirement’ is being used privately by Shawn we’re told
  • Shawn came out to the New Haven audience for Raw (which didn’t air until the Saturday due to the U.S. Open) and told the crowd that his back is pretty messed up. He then went on and spoke about how he lost his smile and that worries him more than losing his wrestling career He’s gonna go find that and he’ll see us down the road.

New Haven? I would’ve grabbed tickets to that!

I’m curious, did your random number generator program decide that Shawn should retire? Or was it just your decision to imitate the real life retirement Shawn took in 1998?

Anyone who exists beyond their real life timeline is subject to a dice roll after the big 4 PPVs with a miniscule chance of retirement. Shawn’s dice hit. I was hoping Bret vs Shawn would Main Event a WrestleMania still one day.

In short - Shawn’s retirement was not a fixed point.
