THERE’S A STORM A BREWIN’
May 28, 2001

Lance Storm appeared on WWF television tonight, superkicking Perry Saturn, who was partnering with Tori in a mixed-gender tag-match against Trish Stratus and Steve Blackman.

Storm then disappeared through the crowd.

We’re told that this will be the big money angle in the WWF this year and big-money is right as Vince is throwing the kitchen sink at this one.

There are rumours that Vince received a mysterious note telling him that doing this half-assed will be remembered as among the biggest failures in wrestling history.

THE POST-MANIA BLOOD LETTING

  • WWF has come to terms on the release of Ludvig Borga and Grandmaster Sexay

FROM ONE BLOODSUCKER TO ANOTHER’
June 4, 2001

Vampiro took care of an interfering Edge in a matchup between Kane and Christian on Monday Night Raw.

His arrival was heralded by WCW graphics and sound effects over the PA as Paul Heyman shouted “The invasion continues”

The camera then cut to Shane McMahon celebrating in the truck and then we heard a voice shouting to cut away from the shot inside the truck. Shane walked towards the source of the voice and high fived in its direction right before we cut back to the ring.

KING OF THE RING SEASON

  • This week’s Monday Night Raw will see the beginning of the KOTR tournament with qualifying matches leading to the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and Final occurring on the Pay-Per-View itself
  • The field includes only 1 past winner in last year’s King, Eddie Guerrero
  • Qualifying round matchups include Eddie Guerrero vs. Test, Chris Benoit vs. Sid, old NOD & DX enemies The Goodfather and X-Pac, and speaking of DX, former stablemates face off as The One Billy Gunn takes on Commissioner Regal’s Minister of Strategy, Triple H
  • Winning this tournament can be a catapult to the Main Event which five of the last six winners, Ted DiBiase, Scotty Flamingo, Brian Pillman, Steve Austin, and The Rock can certainly attest to. All 5 are former world champions with one organisation or another. Last year’s winner, Eddie Guerrero, was right on the cusp of the main event all year long after winning the crown but a neverending feud with Val Venis lay his priorities elsewhere…
  • Eddie is looking pretty comfortable in the #1 position with Test, Chris Benoit, and Kane appearing on the surface as the main competition. However, last year’s #1 seed (The Rock) made it all the way to the finals before losing. A fact that Eddie certainly knows, as he was the #2 seed that knocked him off
  • Only one #1 seed has ever won the whole thing: Stone Cold Steve Austin in 1998

KING OF THE RING WINNERS

  • 1986 - Junkyard Dog
  • 1987 - ‘Jumpin’ Jim Brunzell
  • 1988 - Harley Race
  • 1989 - Ax
  • 1990 - Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart
  • 1991 - The Ultimate Warrior
  • 1993 - Kerry Von Erich
  • 1994 - Owen Hart
  • 1995 - Scotty Flamingo
  • 1996 - ‘The Million Dollar Man’ Ted DiBiase
  • 1997 - Brian Pillman
  • 1998 - Stone Cold Steve Austin
  • 1999 - The Rock
  • 2000 - Eddie Guerrero

IN OTHER NEWS

  • The WWF is said to be continuing their integration of WCW wrestlers into the product as we move towards King of the Ring with a few surprises set to be in store for the viewers at home. What does that mean though?
  • The WWF is also said to be crowning a light heavyweight champion for the first time ever. Critics say this is a move to find something for an increasingly bloated roster but it should be interesting to see what the WWF does with the division
  • In related news, Shane Helms debuted over the past fortnight under a new gimmick, The Hurricane

WWF’S HARDCORE SCENE IS AWESOME’
June 4, 2001

The Macho Man Randy Savage called out anyone in the back who wants a shot at his Hardcore Championship to find him in the ring, in the back, in catering, wherever. They will soon find themselves, in-capacitated.

Later in the show, Mike Awesome jumped Macho Man in the parking lot with Shane McMahon arriving on the scene with a WWF referee by the scruff of the neck. Awesome destroyed Savage by powerbombing him into cars while Shane was a 1-man hype machine as the beating continued and Awesome covered Savage for the win and the title.

A black car then pulled up screaming with a voice screaming ‘let’s go’ coming from inside. Shane and Awesome got into the car and they peeled out of there.

Editor’s note: Not a fixed point. The game randomly put Awesome against Savage and simulated it out as a loss. The past doesn’t always want to be changed

Right to Censor, the supposed #1 contenders have been assured that they will still receive their shot at the champions, whoever they may be, at either King of the Ring.

STALKER TO BE REVEALED?

  • Over the past few weeks a series of videos have played on WWF programming of The Undertaker going about his day with a modified voice commenting on how this is apparently his yard these days
  • They’ve followed Undertaker backstage, in the gym, at catering, meeting fans at the airport but always have a bit of an obstruction suggesting the guy shooting the footage is hiding as he takes the video
  • The figure is dressed in black leathers as seen by the odd short of an arm or the final shot in each video, showing him with a motorcycle helmet on
  • Each of the videos also ends with a voiceover from a 2nd voice that takes over the camera, panning to a shot of the man in the helmet while the off-screen voice says ‘he’ll see you soon’ - The most recent one finished with “he’ll see you Sunday”

WWF KING OF THE RING RESULTS - JUNE 24, 2001

  • Stone Cold Steve Austin def. Undertaker (c) to win the WWF World Heavyweight Championship
  • Chris Benoit def. Kane to win the King of the Ring tournament
  • K-Kwik def. Jerry Lynn & Hurricane to win the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship
  • Kurt Angle def. Shane McMahon in a Street Fight
  • Chris Benoit def. Rikishi in a KOTR Semi-Final match
  • Kane def. Triple H in a KOTR Semi-Final match
  • Chyna def. Trish Stratus (c) to win the WWF Women’s Championship
  • The APA def. Right To Censor to win the WWF Tag Team Titles
  • Triple H def. Big Show in a KOTR Quarter-Final Match
  • Kane def. Perry Saturn in a KOTR Quarter-Final Match
  • Chris Benoit def. X-Pac in a KOTR Quarter-Final Match
  • Rikishi def. Eddie Guerrero in a KOTR Quarter-Final Match

NOTES

  • Right to Censor tried to jump the APA after their victory but were assisted by The Brothers of Destruction who brawled with the RTC (Val Venis got away somehow in the melee) but Buchanan, Goodfather and Richards were thrown into the back of a tractor-trailer, had the doors shut on them, Bradshaw hit the doors and the truck drove off
  • Undertaker was looking around on the loading dock, saying he heard something and Bradshaw told him that was probably Val Venis scurrying away - Undertaker didn’t look so sure
  • After the Main Event, Taker and Stone Cold were ready to do some sort of a respect deal in the middle of the ring. Stone Cold asked for a couple of beers, when all of a sudden both men got distracted by something in the rafters… Paul Hemyan shouts out… It’s STING!
  • Indeed both men are starting at the rafters when they’re attacked from behind by Harlem Heat. They attack both men under the guidance of WCW Champion, Ricky Steamboat
  • JR says these have got to be the two men from the video. Heyman says Harlem Heat are wearing more of a shiny latex type material, that’s not leather…
  • HH leave Taker in the ring and on the outside they put Stone Cold through the announce table on the outside under the instruction of Steamboat. The 3 men then hop the guardrail and take off
  • Taker gets to his feet slowly and looks at Stone Cold down at ringside. The crowd grow louder as a figure in a motorcycle helmet slithers in the ring… there’s the man in the leathers shouts Heyman
  • The helmeted man stalks behind Taker and hits him with a diamond cutter. It’s DDP!
  • JR asks where the other man is as Shane McMahon jumps the barricade and celebrates with DDP
  • Heyman asks if the other man could be Shane but JR reminds us that Shane got orders from someone else in the truck and someone else was driving the car when they took out Randy Savage
  • Shane holds his ear and nods, before hitting DDP lightly in the chest and telling him they gotta go
  • Heyman talks about the earpieces referees wear and get messages from, he says this must be like one of those
  • JR asks, well, who the hell is giving Shane his cues?
  • Heyman says he doesn’t know
  • The camera looks up for Sting - he’s long gone, it then pans over the carnage. Austin is the Champion but he’s laid out and so is Undertaker
  • JR asks what do any of these matches mean if the damned WCW is just going to come out here and leave things in this state?
  • Heyman again says he doesn’t know as Taker and Stone Cold start to stir and we fade to black

So was Sting in the rafters? Or was Heyman yelling just being used as a distraction?

It’s a shame that DDP as the stalker is a “fixed point”.

If you read carefully though, Taker’s wife is never brought into the equation. Taker is stalked, not Sara. DDP could actually use the rub. He’s not on Taker’s level here.

Yup. Sting in rafters as the distraction.

WCW TAKES OVER THE MAIN EVENT
July 2, 2001

By the will of Linda McMahon, WCW took over the Main Event but it didn’t go over well as Stevie Ray and Vampiro took over the Main Event in Topeka.

This resulted in Stone Cold and Undertaker coming down and throwing both men out of the building.

Arn Anderson is also a terrible color commentator.

It was announced that The Inaugural Brawl is set for Invasion on July 22 on PPV

WCW’s CO-OWNER REVEALED
July 9, 2001

This week Stephanie McMahon was revealed as the co-owner of WCW. Her presence was revealed when some WWF stars came down to fight with WCW stars in the ring and had the upper hand.

However, "no chance, yeah that’s what you got… played on the PA and out walked Stephanie McMahon. Stephanie said that she’s emptied her bank account to fund a second wave of WCW invaders that included:

  • Magnum T.A.
  • Owen Hart
  • Curt Hennig
  • Scott Steiner
  • Buff Bagwell
  • Kronik
  • Billy Kidman

The big swerve though was Mick Foley who returned to seemingly join the WWF by escorting Vince McMahon to safety, getting him into a limousine. The camera pans over from Mankind with Mr Socko. to Vince checking to see if he’s ok and when it panned back, gone was the mask, gone was the button-up shirt but instead, Cactus Jack.

Raw when off the air with someone else driving the limousine with that same distorted voice saying “we’re off” as Cactus Jack used the mandible claw on McMahon.
