The Great Simulation Do-over (Updated through WWF Judgment Day Results: May 20, 2001)

THE PROGRAMME DIRECTOR REVEALED & SOMEONE CROSSES THE LINE
July 23, 2001

  • In the Main Event, Steve Austin & Ken Shamrock were victorious over Magnum T.A. & Jeff Jarrett. At the conclusion, Shane McMahon came out on the stage and introduced the programme director of WCW.
  • The man in the black leathers and the motorcycle helmet came out and removed his helmet to reveal… ERIC BISCHOFF!
  • Jiim Ross and Paul Heyman were beside themselves on commentary with both men stating their disdain for Eric Bischoff might be the one thing they have in common.
  • Bischoff said that he’s been negotiating with Linda McMahon regarding WCW’s place within the WWF and is thrilled to be authorised to announce that at SummerSlam a WWF superstar will challenge Ricky Steamboat for the WCW title (Austin looked over at Shamrock who smiled at the thought).
  • Bischoff continued that he’s also been authorised to announce that at SummerSlam, Stone Cold Steve Austin will defend his WWF World Heavyweight Championship against a WCW wrestler. Whether that’s someone who’s been there forever… or someone that’s just crossed the line…
  • Shane continued: It could be a WCW legend, it could be a bright young star, or it could even be… family.
  • Austin looks confused and is instantly German suplexed by Ken Shamrock and thrown to the outside where the attack continues
  • Heyman: Ken Shamrock has crossed the line
  • Jim Ross: That son of a bitch
  • Shamrock attacks Austin with a ring bell before throwing him back in the ring and applying the ankle lock
  • Austin is seen to be visually screaming in agony as Shamrock twists his ankle and Raw goes off the air

GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT - OH, THE OTHER SIDE HAS DONE IT TOO
July 30, 2001

  • In the Main Event, The Rock came down to the ring where he was pitched hard by Vince McMahon and Eric Bischoff regarding which side he will pick
  • Vince talked about coming home
  • Eric talked about how much time it took Vince McMahon to pull the trigger on The Rock. Leaving him out of the Main Event of WrestleMania 2000. And who did he put in that Main Event slot? Why, Stone Cold Steve Austin, again… you jump to WCW and you join men like Curt Hennig, Roddy Piper, Meng, and Ricky Steamboat… men who Vince McMahon didn’t believe in but Eric Bischoff turned into World Champions. Bischoff says, by choosing WCW, You can show Stone Cold Steve Austin where to stick it, and you can tell Vince McMahon to go to hell.
  • Rock turns and looks at Vince… Vince tells him not to listen to Eric Bischoff, nor to listen to Vince McMahon… he tells Rock to listen to The People
  • The Rock surveys The People… Vince tells Rock to give the people what they want
  • Rock with a Rock Bottom to Vince as Eric Bischoff celebrates in the ring and extends a hand
  • Rock shakes the hand of Bischoff as boos rain down from the Philadelphia crowd
  • Rock then refuses to release the handshake, pulls in Bischoff and delivers a Rock Bottom to Bischoff
  • Rock picks up the microphone and says Finally, the Rock has come back to the W…W…
  • SPEAR!
  • A hooded figure has just run through the crowd and speared Rock out of his boots
  • The figure removes his hood to reveal Goldberg!
  • Goldberg picks up Rock and hits a Jackhammer
  • Goldberg picks up the mic and says "I was hoping you’d say that. Rock. You’re Next!
  • There’s absolute carnage as Vince and Eric both start to come to ever so slightly… Vince looks disoreinted while Bischoff looks somewhat gleeful
  • Heyman and JR talk about how both sides continue to build their armies in an arms race and how at SummerSlam, it’ll be more than just a brawl, there are titles on the line
  • J.R. asks in closing but what happens now with Rock and Goldberg?

Love all the details. But my impression is that Goldberg in the simulation never came close to his real life career. He’s mid card at best and never won anything significant.

Where’s Sting? Hollywood Hogan? They should be the face of WCW.

Love the engagement. Like The Rock said, just sit back and see the ride Sancty is taking you on.

Goldberg was actually the #2 or #3 Babyface arguably at the end of WCW and was the fastest riser in the PWI 500 in 2000-2001 so it does make sense as Rock and Goldberg are arguably the hottest babyface in each of their companies. Goldberg can slide into the Booker T spot against Rock quite justifiably.

I’ll give you that Sting needs to be more.

IS THERE STILL A CONNECTION BETWEEN THE ROCK & THE SOCK?
August 6, 2001

  • The Rock has been tracking down Cactus Jack backstage talking about how he could turn his back on the WWF. Rock brought up Foley’s tag team titles with The Rock, Austin, and even Terry Funk
  • Cactus said that he’s the man that retired Terry Funk and if he can do that to his best friend, he can do it to anyone
  • Rock said that Foley needs to stop convincing people and himself that he doesn’t need anyone. Rock says that Foley’s 5 tag titles proves what we all know - that Foley needs people. It’s a story much greater than you… it applies to all of Mankind
  • Cactus tells Rock that he should be worrying about Goldberg
  • Rock says that The Rock is worried about Goldberg - don’t you worry about that - but he’s also worried about his friend. He wants Cactus to think about what he’s said
  • In a soft voice, Cactus says that it doesn’t matter what Rocky wants. Rocky takes a beat and says I suppose not… have a nice day

EDITOR’S UPDATE

No entries lately due to

  • Work has been insane. I’m a teacher by trade and this is our ridiculously busy time
  • The image limit on WWE 2K24 is bugging out and preventing new things from being downloaded. I can’t download a Tommy Dreamer or a SummerSlam arena because it’s artificially saying the limit has been reached (it hasn’t)

With the new patch dropping any day now (with a rumoured fix for this issue) and my work getting much lighter come Monday for me - I’m hoping I’ll be back on this shortly.

September 3, 2001

  • In a shocking move, Stevie Ray is the new WCW World Heavyweight Champion after defeating Ricky Steamboat on the Sept 3 episode of Monday Night Raw after Steamboat was distracted by Val Venis
  • It’s definitely a headscratcher after Steamboat went over Taker so strong at SummerSlam
