ROYAL RUMBLE RESULTS - JANUARY 24, 1993

  • Marty Jannetty wins the Royal Rumble, last eliminating Demolition Ax
  • Magnum T.A. def. Bret Hart to retain the WWF World Heavyweight Championship in a 5 star classic
  • Jim Powers def. Demolition Crush to win the WWF Intercontinental Championship
  • Bam Bam Bigelow def. Tatanka
  • Typhoon squashes Doink
  • High Energy def. The Headshrinkers
  • British Bulldog def. Skinner

RUMBLE NOTES

  • Harvey Whippleman debuted a new wrestler at #12 - Giant Gonzalez. Gonzalez manhandled a few wrestlers (including The Undertaker), eliminating Lance Cassidy & Kato before being eliminated by a team of wrestlers but finished off by Shawn Michaels
  • The Undertaker was called out by Razor Ramon but that didn’t go well for him. Undertaker threw him around the ring with ease until Ramon was thrown out by another wrestler
  • Tito Santana turned back the clock with a decent performance. He announced before the match it would be his final Rumble match and wanted to be referred to by his actual name, and not some cartoon character
  • The Undertaker was thrown out by The Ultimate Warrior and the arena went electric. This may be a direction for WrestleMania IX
  • Yokozuna was eliminated by Randy Savage who thought about going for a pin before thinking better and ducking a charging Yokozuna so the Sumo Master’s weight carried him over the top rope
  • Demolition Smash was eliminated by Demolition Ax in the latter moments of the match (both men had final 3 numbers drawn). Smash said aftewards that he has no tag team partner and wants to see Ax at WrestleMania - We don’t know where Crush fits into all of this after losing his IC strap. Ax is getting long in the tooth but he may be the 2nd most over man in the company, after Magnum T.A.
  • What we’re hearing is that Jim Powers is nothing but a transitional champion and we shouldn’t expect the strap to last on him beyond Wrestlemania - then again, we thought the same about Marty Jannetty last year.

The highs and lows of this rumble!

Magnum / Bret would have been incredible in this universe.

But then Marty keeps his run going… Ugh.

I can at least do something with this. Ax from Demolition would’ve been a slow death. When he eliminated Smash, I thought - I can do something with this as long as he didn’t win.

Fuck yes! Marty Jannety going back to Wrestlemania to get his title back. I knew he was in store for big things.

WWF WRESTLEMANIA IX RESULTS - APRIL 4, 1993

  • Magnum T.A. def. Marty Jannetty to retain the WWF World Heavyweight Championship
  • Smash def. Ax in a Loser Leaves WWF Match
  • The Undertaker def. The Ultimate Warrior

  • Money Inc. def. The Mega Maniacs when I.R.S. pinned Hogan clean
  • Yokozuna def. Macho Man Randy Savage
  • The Orient Express def. The Steiner Brothers to retain the WWF World Tag Team Titles

NEWS

  • The closing shots of Wrestlemania IX had Magnum T.A. celebrating in the ring as Marty walked to the back holding his head and walking by Shawn Michaels, leaning against the entrance way, his newly won IC title over his shoulder before we went back to Magnum celebrating.
  • Ric Flair has returned to WCW where Nikita Koloff has quietly put together a 500 day plus run as NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion
  • Shawn Michaels is thinking about retiring his teardrop suplex as a finisher in exchange for his superkick as agent Pat Patterson thinks it’s got a bit more kick to it (pardon the pun)
  • Hulk Hogan was said to be in disbelief that Marty Jannetty was in the Main Event of Wrestlemania, again. He offered to do an impromptu extra main event but that was quickly turned down backstage. It’s rumoured this politicking is what led to his defeat by I.R.S.
  • Ted DiBiase is rumoured to be thinking about a singles run again shortly

So part of this experiment was to see what happened if people didn’t suffer career ending injuries (see Magnum T.A., DiBiase, Rick Rude, Nikita Koloff, etc) or steroid trials, etc. and if people get over, they don’t get released as why would you if they’re that degree of over (see the Orient Express or Demolition’s extended run). However absence provides opportunity so in the coming months I’m going to be implementing a chaos system which will result in some disruptions to the rosters so we don’t have the greatest rosters there ever were all the time.

I must admit that Main Event Marty Jannetty might be my favourite thing out of the sim so far.

My favorite thing so far is Marty and the run of Nikita Koloff.

Another update. Most superstars transferred over. Then gotta make tag teams and set up rivalries and divisions and I should be good.
