  • Macho Man Randy Savage vs. Hollywood Hogan
  • Jeff Jarrett def. The Giant

NOTES

  • Ted DiBiase openly mocked Hogan after his loss backstage before going out to ringside for his title match. He told Hogan that he used to have a guy like him a few years ago. Good for some muscle but could never back it up in the ring. Hall & Nash were a little too smug after an earlier victory as well.

WCW OFFICIALLY #1?

  • It’s time to call a spade a spade. Although WCW has been leading in the ratings since the late spring, there is now a sizable difference in the ratings and for the time being, WCW is on top and the WWF is playing 2nd fiddle. Can this change in time? Who knows?

IT’S ALL HAPPENING

  • Episodes of Nitro are heavily featuring a civil war between Ted DiBiase and Hulk Hogan. Nothing has spilled over into violence yet but with Ted being the money man and Hogan being the unquestioned star, it’s a tense situation as we try to figure out who’s driving this thing
  • Kerry Von Erich surprised the world by showing up on Nitro this most recent week. He’s joined the fight against the New World Order
  • WCW need all the help they can get as Big Bubba Rogers, Scott Norton, and Marcus (now called Buff) Bagwell have all joined the renegade group. Norton & Bagwell are now wrestling as a team under the moniker ‘Vicious & Delicious’
  • Magnum T.A. has returned to the WWF. Surprisingly underused by WCW during the Nitro era, Magnum is hoping that a return to New York will bring relevance again. Unquestionably the biggest star in wrestling in the 1980s and early 90s, Magnum has struggled with relevancy in the changing times
  • Ax has finally called it a career mere months before his 50th birthday. A Hall of Fame induction must be a certainty at this point
  • WWF is heavily featuring a young prospect named Rocky Maivia in vignettes. It’s said they’re high on the squeaky-clean white-meat babyface and he was at one point pencilled in for a debut at the Survivor Series but we’re hearing tat Jim Ross is determined that Vince doesn’t just shove him down people’s throats

As much as Ive loved WCW lately, those top 2 matches look brutal for Starrcade. The rest of the show looks great though.

BOOKER T OUT HURT

  • The WCW injury bug continues as Booker T has been knocked out of action with a torn bicep. Those in the know are suggesting summertime as a likely return date. Stevie Ray will still compete in singles action during his absence
  • There is a rumour that the WWF are looking to bring back a legendary tag team to bolster the division as there’s very little depth outside of champions Camp Cornette at the moment.
  • WCW officials are supposedly unsure about how to book the Main Event of Starrcade with 2 Cold Scorpio on fire with the crowd but the nWo angle running quite well.

Im so glad Barry Horowitz didnt win the IC Title. That would have been the beginning of the end for the WWF.

I like Mankind vs Flamingo for the title at Wrestlemania. Ideally that feud would be a great way to get to the Raven character in the WWF.

That’s not a bad theory. The crowd has turned on the Scotty character in a bit of a Bo Dallas kind of way.
