This week at POST Wrestling we have a packed weekend with the WWE and the UFC presenting big events, including the biggest MMA fight of the year as Khabib Nurmagomedov defends the UFC lightweight title against Conor McGregor.

Over the past week, we released seven shows and a POST Production video. This included a new Rewind-A-Wai discussing the WWF’s In Your House “International Incident” card for POST Wrestling Café members. On the “Double Shot”, we added a review of the July 1996 episode of Raw leading into the pay-per-view for a snapshot of what was going on during this period for the World Wrestling Federation.

Braden Herrington and Davie Portman continue their reviews of NXT and the Mae Young Classic with the opening round matches wrapping up this past week. On this week’s show, Davie also provided a brief review of 205 Live, which is part of the WWE Network’s Wednesday night block.

Chris Charlton welcomed Jonathan Snowden from Bleacher Report on the EGGSHELLS Podcast Companion to dissect the four Tokyo Dome events from 2003, including the first Ultimate Crush event. This era spawned Hustle, Bill Goldberg was involved with a lucrative deal where he was still able to work dates while under contract to WWE, and many more notes from this time.

On our POST Production video this week, Wai & I went through some samples of POST Wrestling merchandise we just received so you can have a look at some of the items we may be releasing. The video content is available for Double Double, Iced Capp & Espresso members of the Café. On the audio front, we released two bonus shows this week and will have several over the next week.

Over the next week, we will have POST Shows after the WWE’s Super Show-Down event (including a live video stream for Double Double & above members), and a free POST Show after UFC 229 on Saturday. Plus, the return of Ask-A-Wai with a gigantic mailbag of questions to get to and that show drops Friday.

You can join the POST Wrestling Café today at http://www.POSTwrestlingCafe.com.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

“I think from a technical perspective this was everything you could have wanted from Hulk Hogan in 2003. It reminded me of the previous year where he became a critical darling after having trouble with hardcore fans his entire career and yet everyone loved his match with The Rock in 2002 in Toronto and those guys went out and had this tremendous bout that maybe wasn’t the greatest in-ring match, but part of what made it special was that the crowd was willing to accept it and get into it. They really helped make this match that was only okay and put it on their shoulders and elevated it into something else. The fact they cared so much made it special and I think that Chono and Hogan delivered a similar kind of performance. I think for a 50-year old Hogan this was everything you could have expected. The difference was the technical level of the match is exactly the same as the Rock match and of structured in a similar way. The difference was the crowd didn’t care nearly as much as they did in North America and it illustrates how important that noise and energy of the crowd can be. You can put the same match in a different environment and the match is maybe exposed a bit for being a product of a time and place and not just being pure excellent because it failed here in a different place”.
