John Pollock & Wai Ting review the 2020 Netflix true crime documentary series, Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness showcasing the unbelievable world of Joe Exotic and colourful characters such as Carole Baskin and “Doc” Antle.

We discuss reasons why Joe has become a hero to viewers while Carole may have not, who we perceive as the show’s biggest villain, and how editing choices from directors Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin may have influenced audience perceptions.

What an excellent observation by John with the Trump/Hillary comparison.

Want to clarify my “work” comment. The story and its events are obviously real. My point was more, if they are milking the cash cow, at what point do they take the exaggerations and craziness and just “story box”. If we are talking about desperate individuals who con their way through life, while jail, death, drugs, and all that can be real, when does reality and fiction get blurred for their own benefit (keeping the story going, more episodes, more money to pay for those legal bills!)

I love you guys style of movie breakdowns of instead of going minute by minute but a deconstruction of it. Spot on with the Trump/Hilary comparison to the point of her 1 bad thing being comparable to all of his bad things and how there is a bit of sexism in that reaction. So I listen to the Dan LeBatard show on ESPN radio, he couldn’t stop talking about it on Monday March 23rd, because we don’t have sports and topics are tough they were going on and on so by Thursday the 27th I decided to sit and watch a few episodes at 7pm by 1am I had finished the whole thing. Point of this is I got what Wai was saying on being so disgusted by the show that I just decided to push on because I just wanted to be in on the social media discussion.

This is real life. I can’t exist anymore.
