Tommaso Ciampa to undergo neck surgery on Thursday

As noted on Rewind-A-SmackDown Tuesday, Tommaso Ciampa is set to undergo surgery and will out of action for an unknown period. Dave Meltzer had additional information on Wrestling Observer Radio on Tuesday.

The WWE confirmed the news Wednesday stating that the NXT champion will undergo an anterior cervical fusion procedure on Thursday.

We were told this week that the status of Ciampa would be addressed at next Wednesday’s NXT television tapings.

Ciampa has not wrestled since the NXT tapings on February 20th.

It’s sad to see any performer getting injured especially somebody like ciampa who was on the cusp of greatness. The hardest thing in all of this is that it’s a injury similar to what forced edge into retirement which mean it’S a very serious injury. The residual effect of this type of injury is the reason why sheamus seem to be stuck in a tag team instead of getting a single run. So i really hope that if he comes back, he will be able to perform at 100% and resume is single push as he a great character and deserve more then to be stuck with johnny gargano in a tag team.
