Nick Aldis’ reign as NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion is over.

Since October of 2018, Nick Aldis has been the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion. Tonight, at NWA’s 73rd Anniversary Show, Aldis’ reign was ended by Trevor Murdoch.

Following a back and forth bout, it was Murdoch hitting his signature ‘Bulldog’ off the top rope to defeat Nick Aldis for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship.

Murdoch was joined in the ring by his family and then congratulated by NWA Hall Of Famer and former 10-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair.

The stipulation going into the match was that if Trevor Murdoch lost, he would be retire from wrestling. Murdoch had stated that he was planning to retire after his trainer Harley Race passed away. The opportunity to work with the NWA was offered to Murdoch and several years after contemplating retirement, he won the organization’s top title.
