Ahead of Saturday’s UFC 254 card on Yas Island, the fighters took to the scale for the weigh-ins with two fighters on the card missing weight.
Alex Oliveria stepped onto the scale at 173 pounds missing the welterweight mark by two pounds. This is the second time Oliveira has missed weight in the UFC, although the last time he missed was in 2016 when he was competing at lightweight.
The other fighting missing weight was Joel Alvarez at 159.5 pounds, which was 3.5 pounds above the lightweight limit for his fight with Alexander Yakovlev.
MMA Junkie is reporting that Oliveira will forfeit 20 percent of his purse while Alvarez will lose 30 percent of his.
There were three back-up fighters that were part of the weigh-ins. Michael Chandler made 155 pounds as a back-up for the main event between Nurmagomedov and Gaethje. Light heavyweight Isi Fitikefu weighed 203.5 pounds as a back-up for the Ankalaev vs. Cutelaba fight. And, Sergey Morozov weighed 139.5 pounds as a back-up for Kenney vs. Wood, which will be fought at a catchweight of 140 pounds.
