Davie Portman is joined by Andrew Thompson to review the December 8th, 2020 edition of IMPACT Wrestling from Skyway Studios, Nashville, TN.

Following the momentous announcement on last week’s AEW Dynamite, Davie and Andrew rundown the entire show featuring a sit down interview with Kenny Omega and Don Callis and an insert commercial from AEW President Tony Khan and Tony Schiavone. Also on the show we see IMPACT World Heavyweight Champion Rich Swann team with Willie Mack to take on TNA World Heavyweight Champion Moose and Number 1 Contender Chris Bey, Chris Sabin vs Josh Alexander, Deonna Purrazzo & Kimber Lee vs Taya Valkyrie & Rosemary… and more!

The lads talk in-depth about the show, what they make of the IMPACT/AEW partnership and where they see it going, whether IMPACT made the most of the opportunity they were given and how NXT are dealing with the extra buzz AEW have gained recently.

I’m guessing you guys got to see this early with coming out with the show this quick, so it will be a good listen tomorrow. The NEW Review an Impact.

I loved the show. It almost felt like this was planned well in advance because these taped matches seemed like they were put here specifically to showcase who are the main players on the show. The commentary and the Dreamer/D’Amore segment were probably done more recently but they got everyone up to speed with the core of the roster.

I was surprised they continued the John E. Bravo nonsense instead of dumping it for a wider audience, that was the worst part of the show. But yeah, I thought the show was great. While AEW is giving Impact a lot of press, it was the AEW contingent that stole the show, with the Omega/Callis promo and the unlikely hit of Tony Khan and Tony Schiavone. I don’t want to see Tony Khan as a regular character on AEW TV, but seeing him more as a sort of Vince McMahon in Memphis type deal on Impact would be really fun.

I think NXT is still the cool kid on the block.

Rich Swann is Impact champion!? No wonder they had to get a champion from a different show, even if it’s Omega. How are they going to position Swann during all of this?
