During a pre-taped segment that ran on Monday’s Christmas Eve edition of Raw, Vince McMahon made several announcements.
McMahon, who was dressed as Santa Claus, stated that John Cena would be returning to both Raw and SmackDown, although did not state when. Cena is scheduled for 13 live events, beginning December 26th through January 14th, although Cena had previously stated he would not be appearing on television. Cena is scheduled for this Saturday’s event in Pittsburgh, which is a SmackDown taping, as well as January 7th in Orlando and January 14th in Memphis, which are Raw tapings.
He added that in 2019, the WWE would be introducing tag titles for the women’s division.
The final announcement was that a steel cage match between Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre will take place on next week’s episode of Raw. Next week’s show will be taped this Friday in Detroit to air on New Year’s Eve.
Long time coming. Hope they’re used to build the division and not just attach belts to the same match combinations we’ve been seeing for awhile now.
I think the question on everybody’s minds is whether or not Judy Martin and Leilani Kai will be back to reclaim their titles as the champs who never lost them 30 years ago. Glamour Girls vs. Iiconics is a main event anywhere in the territory.
I would imagine (and kind of hope) that the Women’s Tag Team Titles would be defended across both brands. Given the limited TV time in general (much less for the women), it would make sense to have everyone go after them.
They can’t book male tag titles so this is going to be pretty bad. There is barely enough women for two singles divisions, not sure how there will be enough talent and time for a tag division. Hopefully they don’t put tag titles on both shows - yuck
Yes but at that time you’d also have Too Cool, T&A, Right to Censor, etc in hot programs with each other. I must have missed that must-see Gallows/Anderson vs Colons feud.
