Viva Van expresses that she’s happy for Vaquer.

Come July 13th, New Japan Pro-Wrestling and CMLL are coming together to present Fantasticamania: Lucha Libre USA from San Jose, California.

Stephanie Vaquer was scheduled to defend the CMLL World Women’s Championship at the show. It was confirmed that Vaquer is joining WWE and she pulled out of all dates with CMLL, New Japan and Revolution Pro Wrestling.

As a result, the title was vacated and a new champion will be crowned in a three-way at the 7/13 show. It’ll be Willow Nightingale versus Viva Van versus Lluvia. Viva talked to Pro Wrestling Illustrated about the series of events that led to her getting a title match. She expressed that she’s happy for Vaquer.

Yeah, I mean, I’m as surprised as you are so… (She said about CMLL World Women’s Title shot) You know, wrestling is so unpredictable to where, one minute you’re like, man, I have a weekend off and then the next, you’re like, oh hell yeah, I’m there. So to me, I’ve always been okay with going with the flow. I’ve been used to it. Been doing this for about six, seven years so I feel like I’m kind of used to things always being on the fly and going with the flow but I’ve been training for this moment and I thought I would get an opportunity against the New Japan STRONG Women’s Champion before this but you know, I’m not mad at the CMLL World Women’s Champion. I’m down with that too and I’ve been training at the New Japan Academy two to three times a week so I’m ready. I am so ready. Even though this is a last-minute thing and I’m very happy for Stephanie Vaquer. She deserves the world… I’m ready.

Elsewhere on the CMLL front, Chris Jericho is going to be wrestling for the company for the first time since 1995. He’ll be wrestling Místico at the 91st Anniversary Show on September 13th.
