I think there’s more references by them, these are the two which come to mind right now. Both from the same album, ‘Stoned Raiders’ in 2001. They were clearly watching a lot of wrestling while stoned that year.
In the all star remix of Skepta’s ‘That’s Not Me’, Jaykae raps “Just accept you want none of it, fuck it i’ll spin your whole crew for the fun of it, one sixteen i’m stone cold stunnin it”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOR-C3tFTjU - bonus old school Undertaker shirt worn by Skepta in the video
Alot of guys in the boot camp clik from the 90s used to reference wrestling amd wrestlers all the time, specifically heltah sleltah and smiff n wesson. I had this theory as to why so many rappers, especially 90s east coast rappers, mentioned pro wrestling was because the wwf at msg was such a big deal in the 70s when alot of those guys were kids.
Above mentions mr perfect and paul orndorf. Theres plenty more just this was the first that popped up in my head. If youve never listened to either group, theyre legends in the new york underground
Heres a verse off the song “Our World” i did as part of my old hip hop group “Gods & Monsters”. Im the second verse. I said the following:
(Warning-Foul & Suggestive Language)
-Go ahead, make it hard ma, i aint the cleanest.
I call mu cck “The Rock”, ill let your btch meet the "Peoples Pnis".
-Fck her in the butt, “the Rock Bottom”.
Get in the ring with me and its fittin’ to be a slaighter
-Smell what im cookin’? Good lookin’ get conquered.
Any time youre going blow for blow with the monsters.
I used to always love to pepper references in anywhere i could or wear pro wrestling tshirts in our music videos if i could. It actually drove the other guy i was in the group with nuts because he thought wrestling was corny and thought it hurt our image. I always loved it though because any time we’d perform some of those songs live id get approached after the show by fans who heard the references and theyd pop.
