The WWE has announced another title match for SummerSlam on Sunday, August 19th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

On Monday, the WWE posted a video with Drake Maverick announcing that Cruiserweight champion Cedric Alexander will defend the title against Drew Gulak at the event. This was set up by Gulak defeating Hideo Itami, Mustafa Ali, and TJP on last week’s edition of 205 Live.

It is the first time the Cruiserweight title will be defended at a WWE pay-per-view since the Greatest Royal Rumble event past in April.

Alexander became Cruiserweight champion at WrestleMania earlier this year, defeating Mustafa Ali in the finals of the tournament for the vacant title.

It is unknown if this match will be part of the main show or the kickoff portion.

It’s gonna be on the pre show, I just want them to get enough time.

The pre-show is the place to be with a 7 hour show.

This is one of those match’s that will probably get more time on the pre show than it would on the main show.

I hope Gulak gets the win, there’s money in him as champion.

True that. Really dug Alexander/Ali at WM as it was a solid program with clear stakes and worked out a fun match that wasn’t sent out to die between big-time stuff.

That said, the whole “you have no heart/you have no soul” deal was the definition of on-the-nose.

205 has been great the last few weeks, it’s really a shame the show is in limbo and seems to only exist from 10-11pm on Tuesdays. They either need their own “network specials” or get a real tie to one of the other programs.
