The WWE has announced a tournament for Royal Rumble weekend involving talent from NXT, NXT UK, and 205 Live.

The tournament will take place over two days at the Royal Rumble Axxess sessions at the Phoenix Convention Center on Saturday, January 26th and Sunday, January 27th.

There will be fifteen performers and the tournament will be billed as “Worlds Collide” with the winner receiving a future title shot of their choosing.

The tournament will be taped for a future airing on the WWE Network and there will be additional NXT UK television tapings on Friday and Sunday at Axxess.

Below is the talent listed for the event:

NXT: Adam Cole, Velveteen Dream, Keith Lee, Dominik Dijakovic, and Otis Dozovic

NXT UK: Tyler Bate, Mark Andrews, Jordan Devlin, Travis Banks, and Zack Gibson

205 Live: Cedric Alexander, Drew Gulak, TJP, Tony Nese, TBA

205 Live listed Humberto Carrillo and later changed that to a “wrestler to be named later”.

Leave it to WWE to have a 15 man tournament.

Triple Threat final a la BOLA? Still not sure how that math would work unless it’s as simple as a random BYE somewhere.

that’s why i feel like 205 live should permanently move their title from the main roster to NXT takeover. They are already being threated as a brand on that level anyway so why continue to pretend that this brand is on the same level as raw or smackdown.

As explained on the Dot Com article, these 15 guys will have a Battle Royal to start, with the winner getting a bye into the second round.

How did they wind up with a name used by other promotions? Why is When Worlds Collide so familiar?

AAA When Worlds Collide is quite the landmark show in my opinion, mainly for that Los Gringos Locos tag match.
