A taped edition of WWE NXT aired on USA Network and it featured an NXT Women’s Championship match between the champion Lyra Valkyria and challenger, Shotzi. Shotzi confirmed that she suffered a torn ACL during the bout and the moment when she suffered the injury was shown. Shotzi had Valkyria set up for DDT on the ring apron and Shotzi dropped down to the floor. She immediately grabbed at her knee.
NXT General Manager Ava made her way to the ringside area and stated that Shotzi was not able to continue so there would be an open challenge for the title and answering the call was Lash Legend. Cameras cut to the women’s locker room where Roxanne Perez came into frame and was informed that she missed the open challenge. She then threw the television set on the floor. Valkyria went on to defeat Lash to retain her title.
Ilja Dragunov told Carmelo Hayes that if Hayes meets him face-to-face on 2/27, he’ll give him an NXT Title shot at Roadblock on March 5th. Their face-to-face is being advertised for the next NXT TV episode.
It was stated by Vic Joseph that the 2/20 program is Byron Saxton’s last week calling the action for the brand. Booker T has been away from commentary as he’s been recovering from a medical procedure.
There was a meeting held with The Family (Tony D’Angelo, Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo & Adriana Rizzo). Coming off of losing the NXT Tag Titles, D’Angelo said it’s time to take The Family in a new direction and going forward, he’ll be the one solely calling the shots.
In the show opener, Oba Femi bested Lexis King to retain the North American Championship.
Adding on to the 2/27 lineup is an appearance from Ridge Holland where he’ll apologize for all of his past actions.
There is going to be a Heritage Cup match on 2/27. Noam Dar will be defending against a member of No Quarter Catch Crew (Drew Gulak, Charlie Dempsey, Myles Borne or Damon Kemp).
Former NXT U.K. Tag Team Champions Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen went one-on-one and Briggs picked up the victory.
