GUNTHER denied Sami Zayn a World Heavyweight Title opportunity multiple times, but he’s finally granted Zayn his match and it is taking place on the 10/7 Raw in St. Louis, Missouri. The two had an in-ring segment and GUNTHER mentioned that his father was disappointed in him for flying him to WrestleMania XL to watch him lose to Zayn. Zayn responded by saying GUNTHER’s showing his father he’s a coward by constantly denying his challenges. A brawl broke out, GUNTHER got the best of Zayn and then granted him the match. Later in the show, GUNTHER and Ludwig Kaiser were approached by Bron Breakker. Breakker said he’ll see GUNTHER soon.
Jey Uso had his first televised entrance as Intercontinental Champion. His son Jeyce was part of the entrance. There was also blue coloring added to the belt design. Bron Breakker, who Jey beat for the title, came out to the ring and offered a handshake and respect.
During a singles match between Xavier Woods and Rey Mysterio, Woods accidentally unmasked Rey, but capitalized on it to get the win. Afterwards, Kofi Kingston asked Woods if he did that on purpose which was denied. Kingston then revealed that Jey Uso offered him a shot at the Intercontinental Championship. Kingston shared that he passed the opportunity off to Woods and it is taking place on 10/7. Karrion Kross watched that entire exchange in the background. Later on, Kingston had a match against Chad Gable. Woods grabbed a hold of Gable’s leg in an attempt to stop his momentum, but he did not realize Kingston was about to connect with a Trouble in Paradise. Gable went on to win the match.
Raw General Manager Adam Pearce stated that after CM Punk and Drew McIntyre’s Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood, their feud is done. Punk and McIntyre were both invited to the ring with the Hell in a Cell structure surrounding them and a number of security guards in-between them as they exchanged words.
A graphic and video package aired for baseball legend and WWE Hall of Famer Pete Rose, who passed away at the age of 83.
Adding on to the 10/7 lineup is Sheamus versus Pete Dunne in a Good Old Fashioned Donnybrook match.
