On the Monday Night Raw side of the King and Queen of the Ring tournament brackets, the semifinals are locked in. Shayna Baszler clashed with IYO SKY and during their match, Michael Cole mentioned their World of Stardom Championship match from 2017. SKY won their latest bout and later in the show, Lyra Valkyria defeated Zoey Stark to advance. It’ll be SKY versus Valkyria in a semifinal match of the Queen of the Ring tourney.

Prior to GUNTHER versus Kofi Kingston in a King of the Ring match, Samantha Irvin welcomed Lilian Garcia to introduce Kingston to the ring. GUNTHER went on to submit Kofi to advance. Backstage, Karrion Kross told Kingston that there’s always time to turn things around. The last King of the Ring tourney match of the night was Ilja Dragunov versus Jey Uso. Before Ilja’s match, he was interviewed and mentioned GUNTHER’s name. The former Intercontinental Champion then approached Dragunov. Come match time, Jey bested Ilja and he’ll be facing GUNTHER in the tourney semifinals on 5/20.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest told Drew McIntyre that it’s his own fault that he’s not champion. He then told McIntyre that once he’s cleared, he’ll give him a shot at the title.

The new number one contenders to The Miz and R-Truth’s World Tag Team Titles are Judgment Day’s J.D. McDonagh and Finn Bálor. They emerged victorious from a four-way tag involving The Creed Brothers (Julius Creed & Brutus Creed), A.O.P. (Akam & Rezar) and New Catch Republic (Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate). Carlito helped J.D. and Finn score the win.

During a singles match between Otis and Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn, Chad Gable told Otis not to do ‘The Worm’ but Otis did it anyway. Gable got up on the apron to shout at Otis and that distracted him and it led to a Sami Zayn victory. After the bout, Gable shoved Otis across the face but Sami ran back to the ring and took Gable out. Otis helped Gable regain his wits and when he did, Gable said it was Otis’ fault and slapped him. Ahead of the Triple Threat Intercontinental Title match at the King and Queen of the Ring Premium Live Event, Sami will go one-on-one with Gable on 5/20.

For the first time since being drafted from NXT, Kiana James appeared on Raw in Adam Pearce’s office while The Miz and R-Truth were talking to him.

So they’re not doing Gunther vs Dagonuv? Possibly my fav WWE match of the last decade and Paul is just like nah, I’m good, we don’t need that?? Well that’s annoying as hell.

Part of me is glad they didn’t just pull the trigger on Gunther/Ilja III for a meaningless tournament semifinal on Raw.

But the other part of me is pretty sure I could watch them wrestle every week on Raw and not get bored
