Kicking off SmackDown was the new SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch. Lynch was interrupted by Bianca Belair, who she beat for the title at SummerSlam. Carmella, Zelina Vega and Liv Morgan proceeded to come out and that turned into a four-way elimination match. Belair was victorious and she earned herself a rematch for the SmackDown Women’s Title.

Last month, PWInsider reported that Naomi was being moved to the SmackDown brand. She appeared on tonight’s show and had a segment with Sonya Deville. Deville brushed Naomi off during their conversation.

The final segment of the show featured Universal Champion Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman and SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso). Finn Balor came out and issued a challenge to Reigns for the 9/3 SmackDown in Jacksonville, Florida. Balor charged at Reigns and was beat down by The Usos before The Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) made the save.

Throughout the night, Paul Heyman was on edge after The Usos questioned him about Brock Lesnar’s appearance at SummerSlam. The Usos asked Heyman why he sent them to the back for John Cena and Reigns’ match and he said it was Reigns’ decision.

Pat McAfee is recovering from COVID-19. Kevin Owens and Corey Graves joined Michael Cole on commentary for tonight’s show.

Baron Corbin had a change of luck and won his money back. He pulled up in a Bentley for his segment.
