Friday Night SmackDown notes: Vince McMahon Retires from WWE, Brock Lesnar Appears

TD Garden – Boston, MA
Stephanie McMahon kicked off the show by announcing that Vince McMahon retired from WWE earlier in the day before leading the crowd in a “Thank you, Vince” chant.
Ludwig Kaiser defeated Shinsuke Nakamura after Gunther’s interference. After the match, Gunther chopped Ludwig’s chest again.
Liv Morgan and Ronda Rousey were interviewed and they both agreed to shake hands after their championship match at SummerSlam no matter who wins.
Happy Corbin sneak attacked Pat McAfee at the announce desk again. McAfee chased Corbin into the backstage area. After the commercial break, McAfee cut an impassioned promo on Corbin.
The Brawling Brutes came out complaining about Drew McIntyre’s sword “Angela”. McIntyre appeared and Sheamus announced that he had already confirmed a “Good Old-Fashioned Irish Donnybrook Match” for next week’s SmackDown with Adam Pearce. McIntyre chopped Sheamus’ shillelagh in half to end the segment.
The Usos were backstage and Paul Heyman suggested that they leave Theory lying in the ring after using him to win their main event six-man tag.
An announced match between Alyiah and Lacey Evans didn’t occur yet again as Evans left the ring after hitting Alyiah with The Women’s Right before the match started.
Jeff Jarrett was interviewed backstage and he inferred that both The Street Profits and The Usos have tried to bribe him but he turned every offer down. He said he would call the match right down the middle.
NXT 2.0’s Sofia Cromwell debuted backstage as ‘Maxxine Dupri’, the sister of Max and the Director of Talent of Maximum Male Models. She said that next week she’ll be presenting the 2022 Beachwear Collection on SmackDown (even though it had been announced for this week’s episode).
After the main event, Theory attacked Madcap Moss with the MITB briefcase when Brock Lesnar showed up and destroyed him with two F5s.
