Let’s enjoy and shoot the stuff while it’s going on LIVE! Enjoy, POSTMarks!
I feel like I’m watching a NHL game with the two anthems.
It’s not done yet but this match is atrocious. But the crowd are into it. When you’re hot, there’s not much wrong you can do.
I just noticed there are more sponsors on the rings. Sonic 3!!! Luv it!
This is the happiest day of Mark Shaprio’s life.
Agreed. I’d have to look closer into the last few years, but I can’t think of a worse WWE Wargames match,
It got better in the end a little bit, but was really rough, especially at the start. Some of those Nia Jax chairshots were something else.
I’m at the show. God everyone is so incredibly over. Womens war games was fun in-arena but definitely some slow spots (Nia).
Knight and Nakamura was not much. The three-way totally over delivered though
Michael Cole calls it “the exhausting journey” between the Original Bloodline and the New Bloodline.
The men’s match was fine. Again, everyone was super over. But no blood in WarGames is dumb. And I’m not sure what the story is, the good guys won. No surprises at all. Not an amazing match, it was fine. Feel bad for the people who paid thousands.
Such a nothing show. I’m interested to see what the follow-up is between Reigns and Punk, but I was interested in that before the show too. Triple threat was good. Priest and Gunther was unnecessary but fine. I’m a mark for Nakamura but I’m done getting invested in him until I see him on an actual run of good matches.
I’m still high on Rhea Ripley… not going to catch me complaining about a 28-year-old mega star getting booked strong. But it’s pretty clear that she’s the only women’s talent that HHH has any real interest in. Everything else is just checking boxes (still trying to book good stuff, but definitely checking boxes).
Hope we can be done with every wrestler stopping to get something from under the ring before they enter the Wargames match. Not sure if it’s “realism” or poor planning, but they all look like idiots rooting around for the specific thing they were booked to grab. They’ve somehow added weapons, increased injuries and still made the match tamer than the NWA bloodbaths of old.
Show was not as good as Full Gear. Sort of a throw away until Tinble
The women’s WarGames was just not good. It was too choreographed. They all look so uncomfortable using weapons and looked so obvious that were concerned about hurting each other. If you’re that concerned, maybe just don’t bring in the weapons at all.
I definitely agree there. Nothing on the show that I will ever want to go back and watch again. It’s completely disposable entertainment. But I think that’s what a lot of these basic fans who think the Bloodline is the greatest thing ever want.
Yup. Fans get to cosplay the entrances, do the chants they’re supposed to do, and call the Bloodline “cinema” just for having a story with the most basic amount of nuance.
But they’re making more money than ever before. So this isn’t even a knock, just a realization that I’m getting farther and farther from being a part of their core audience.
Hulk Hogan was a big dude, with charisma, and five big moves. He made a 30 year career in WWF and beyond from that.
That’s what the company produces best. That’s always been the goal.
Yeah, on top of that, they couldn’t find the weapons. I don’t know it just looks stupid. I don’t know what the hell IYO Skye and Candace were doing. She was laughing almost like this is such a botch. And I love the Stratton sky but spot setting it up while it took so long to just stand there with women waiting to catch them was idiotic. And of course, let’s not talk about the Nia Jax chair shots from hell (for a five year old)
Overall this was a horrible pay-per-view in terms of doing anything other than letting you cheer for a few faces in meaningless matches. I don’t understand how they’ve fallen so low lately. I’m sure they’ll pick up at the rumble but the last couple of shows have not been good. If they’re not careful, the momentum could swing back because I think AEW has had some stellar shows lately.
I don’t even know how much overlap there is at this point. Maybe a small number of viewers would fall off (and how much does that matter unless they cancel Netflix or Peacock altogether?), but I don’t think there are many viewers who watch WWE or AEW exclusively that would “switch” to the other company just because of a cold stretch. If WWE survived 2019 when the company was arguably at its creative worst and AEW was probably at its hottest, it will undoubtedly survive a boring Survivor Series.
Of course you are right they’re also going into the Royal rumble season and things will pick up huge with Cena for a while. I don’t think they’re going to go super downhill that being said the last two POvs since summer slam have been significantly worse than anything in the last couple of years.
I would definitely argue that he’s clearly behind Liv Morgan as well. She’s not booked like a “monster” which she shouldn’t, but she has consistently been in a lead role on Raw for a while now.
