The XFL was heading into week six of their season this weekend. There was no mention of the championship game that was/is scheduled to take place in Houston, Texas. In the Eastern conference of the league, St. Louis, New York and the DC Defenders were tied for first place with 3-2 records. In the west, the Houston Roughnecks led the conference with a 5-0 record.

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon announced the relaunch of the XFL in January of 2018 and two years later, the league returned and is being spearheaded by Oliver Luck, father of retired NFL QB Andrew Luck. The XFL was featured on ESPN, FOX networks and ABC.

They had no other choice really to protect everyone. It’s a shame because the league was kind of underhyped and catered to true football fans this time around. What I watched in the last 5 weeks wasn’t perfect, but it was better than the sleazy, gimmicky approach they tried the first time around. I hope they have a chance to survive but it’s going to be tough. It already seemed to be steadily losing viewers and online buzz the last 2 weeks.
