Karrion Kross demanded that all four of his challengers be given an NXT Championship match at TakeOver: In Your House. This came about after Kross had a confrontation with Adam Cole and as William Regal came out to the ring to prevent Cole from getting his way, Kross demanded that Cole be a part of a title match match with himself, Kyle O’Reilly, Pete Dunne and Johnny Gargano.

Adam Cole made his return to NXT at the top of the show and interrupted a three-way involving Dunne, Gargano and O’Reilly. Those three talents were competing to determine who would challenge Kross for the title at TakeOver but Cole took all three talents out.

Regal became frustrated with Cole and escorted him out of the building. Cole made his way back into the building which led to his confrontation with Kross.
