One of the more interesting stunts by AEW in recent memory resulted in the show’s second-largest demo audience of the year.

The show, promoted around the airing of backstage footage involving an altercation between CM Punk and Jack Perry last summer, led to 819,000 viewers as the program’s average and 400,000 (0.30) in the 18-49 demographic, per Wrestlenomics.

The viewership represented a nine percent increase over last week and Dynamite’s largest since February 28.

In the core demo, the audience improved by twenty-nine percent, the highest mark since January 17, and the second largest 18-49 audience of 2024.

The overall audience peak was in the first quarter with 981,000 viewers for the angle involving Samoa Joe and Swerve Strickland and the beginning of Adam Copeland vs. Penta El Zero Miedo. The peak in the 18-49 audience occurred between 8:30 and 8:45 p.m. ET for the House of Black’s involvement with Copeland and Willow Nightingale, a backstage segment beginning with Eddie Kingston & Mark Briscoe, and the airing of the backstage footage with 449,000 viewers, per Wrestlenomics.

The third quarter featuring the Punk and Perry footage increased the audience by three percent and the 18-49 demographic by ten percent from the previous quarter. It dropped seven percent and five percent respectively in the subsequent quarter-hour.

In the 18-49 demo, males increased twenty percent from last week to 266,000 while females increased by fifty-two percent to 134,000.

Adults 18-34 experienced growth of sixty-five percent this week with an average of 150,000 viewers with females nearly doubling from 33,000 last week to 65,000.

Adults 35-49 increased from 218,000 to 250,000.

Dynamite ranked third among sports programming in the U.S. on Wednesday behind two NBA games. The show aired head-to-head with the Dallas Mavericks vs. Miami Heat, which averaged 1,233,000 viewers and 0.42 in the demo, according to Sports Media Watch.

In Canada, Dynamite ranked ninth among sports programs on Wednesday with 132,000 viewers and 60,600 in the 25-54 demographic on TSN 2. The audience grew by forty-two percent from last week.
