FEEDBACK: AEW Dynamite 5/4/22

What did you think of AEW Dynamite?

A solid episode.

  • The Julia Hart angle has been slow burning for months and it’s a lot closer to the end. It’s only a matter of time til she joins the House of Black.

  • Dante Martin/Rey Fenix was a damn good air show. They have good chemistry for being primarily tag team workers.

  • Who does PNP and Kingston bring in to help them out against Jericho and co.? (I hope it’s Homicide and Hernandez)

  • Hangman Page’s so smart to read the room by leaning heel in his match vs Punk. He toed the line pretty effectively as he hit a home run to give the title match some steam and it’ll intensify the crowd reaction in Vegas.

  • Purrazzo/Martinez was a solid main event and it raises more questions about when ROH is gonna get a new network having all of their titles on AEW tv

Joker prediction: I got Miro returning to face Joe in the Owen Cup.

As someone who loves the flippy shit, Dante vs Fenix was a real high point for me. I hope that they’ll find an excuse to run that back, or to do Lucha Bros vs Top Flight when Darius is healed up.

I do wish they’d speed up the Julia Hart turn a bit because it’s been treading water for a while now. Also hoping that we get some clear direction for the Jericho Appreciation Society vs Eddie/ Proud & Powerful (and friends?) since it feels like it’s time to really start building what I assume will be a 5 on 5 match for Double or Nothing.

Interesting that both the men’s and women’s brackets for the Owen Tournament seem to have a Joker position. (The men’s has been announced, and either Riho or Yuka will become the 7th women’s competitor, leaving one place open there, too.) Let the speculation begin…

Thought it was a mid-tier episode of Dynamite tonight, though I found great enjoyment from the Blackpool Combat Club again and think them airing the Regal promo from Road To was a GREAT choice.

Dante & Fenix was fun, and I do feel that there’s been an added level of focus on the women’s division as of late with a lot of the talent feeling like they have something going on, either being put into a feud or the Owen tournament, and it just feels like there’s been an increase of women’s segments as of late, and even now tonight we had a ROH Women’s title main event + two big women’s matches on Rampage this week.

Biggest curiosity of the show was Hangman’s promo which did come off more aggressive & heelish than a typical Page promo. Wonder if he’s going to be playing overconfident heading into the Punk match at DoN.
