G1 Climax Results: Jay White vs. Hirooki Goto and the B Block

The G1 Climax resumed on Saturday from Tokyo at Ota Ward Gym with the first set of B Block matches and headlined by Hirooki Goto defeating Jay White.

In the main event, Goto and White went over twenty-minutes and ended with Goto introducing a new maneuver that was an Ushigoroshi turned into a Final Cut or GTR without the usage of the knee. The move didn’t win the match for Goto, but he hit the GTR and pinned the former IWGP heavyweight champion to gain the two points.

Tomohiro Ishii defeated Jeff Cobb after landing a series of head butts and the match-ending brainbuster. The two had a war down the stretch and brought the audience up with it.

Toru Yano defeated Tetsuya Naito in a comedy-style match with both Naito and Red Shoes having their shirts pulled over their heads and Yano landing a low blow and roll up for the upset.

In Jon Moxley’s third match with New Japan, he defeated Taichi in a short but solid match with a high angle Death Rider. They brawled throughout the stands and ringside area before the match began with Moxley selling his back for the duration after a chair shot.

In the first tournament match of the show, Juice Robinson defeated Shingo Takagi with the Pulp Friction after multiple attempts.

Wai Ting and I will have a rundown of the entire show, including the undercard tag matches this afternoon for members of the POST Wrestling Café.

It was Moxley’s 3rd NJPW match (you’re likely forgetting the Umino match)

…and just like that, my bracket is toast. I only picked one of five correctly. :frowning:

Cobb and Ishii was incredible. Goto and White was pretty good as well. White is improving with every event. The Tana and KENTA preview tag match was actually pretty good as well. It really seemed like Shota and Narita were sandbagging the LA Dojo lads. I liked it. The Naito/Yano match made me laugh so there’s that. Shingo is looking good even in defeat. Mox and Taichi was savage in places. Solid, solid show. 9Apps VidMate
