Shibata comes to Orange Cassidy’s aid.
Orange Cassidy challenged Will Ospreay for the IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Championship at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door but he was unsuccessful in his attempt to become champion.
Post-match, Rocky Romero and Trent made their way to the ring as Cassidy was being ambushed by Ospreay, Kyle Fletcher and Mark Davis. When they got rid of Rocky and Trent, Katsuyori Shibata appeared and saved Cassidy.
They stood face-to-face and Orange placed his glasses on Shibata but Shibata did not take his eyes off of Orange.

Shibata made his return to in-ring action in October 2021 when he competed against Zack Sabre Jr. in a Grappling rules match. He then wrestled Ren Narita at Wrestle Kingdom 16 this past January.
